REQUIREMENT: 11,843 SF SUBSTANDARD: 4,990 SF PROJECT: This project will provide a maintenance support facility for the Hawaii Army National Guard aviation assets on the island of Hawaii. facility will support 11 aircraft in the performance of defense readiness objectives. REQUIREMENT: This project is required to provide adequate support facilities for aviation assets assigned to the 1st Detachment, 1293 Infantry Co., Combat Support Aviation) being assigned to support the defense needs of the island of Hawaii. The project will provide hangar floor, allied shops, special support areas and utilities needed to accomplish the support mission. The proposed site is on State-owned land under the control and management of the Hawaii National Guard. CURRENT SITUATION: The present AAFA facility was constructed in 1954 and is completely inadequate for the proposed requirements. Due to the nature of its construction, expansion is not feasible. At present, the existing structure is only minimally effective as an AAFA facility. Inadequate for future operations will be administration, operations and maintenance support areas.
