CONSTRUCTION, PUBLIC BUILDINGS PROJECTS 1973 Appropriation Change 1974 Estimate GENERAL STATEMENT Amount $203,312,000 -203,312,000 "The 1974 budget estimates provide for completion of a new border station in Alaska and contingencies for ongoing projects. All other new construction for 1974 is planned for financing under the recently enacted purchase contract authority provided by the Public Buildings Amendments of 1972. This method of financing also permits the reprograming of $198 million to meet requirements in other appropriations." (From The Budget for 1974.) APPROPRIATION LANGUAGE For an additional amount for expenses, not otherwise provided for, necessary to construct and acquire public buildings projects and alter public buildings by extension or conversion where the estimated cost for a project is in excess of $500,000, pursuant to the Public Buildings Act of 1959, as amended (40 U.S.C. 601-615), including fallout shelters and equipment for such buildings, $203,312,000, and not to exceed $500,000 of this amount shall be available to the Administrator for construction or alteration of small public buildings outside the District of Columbia as the Administrator approves and deems necessary, all to remain available until expended: Provided, That the foregoing amount shall be available for public buildings projects at locations and at maximum construction improvement costs (excluding funds for sites and expenses) as follows Border station facility numbered 2, Nogales, Arizona, $2,368,000;7 Federal office building, Tucson, Arizona, $5,533,000; [Courthourse, Federal office building, and parking facility, San Diego, California, $44,955,000;7 Federal office building, Dover, Delaware, $1,577,000;7 Post office and Federal office building, Iowa City, Iowa, $4,497,000;7 Patrick V. McNamara Federal office building, Detroit, Michigan, $56,459,000;7 [Courthouse and Federal office building, Hattiesburg, Mississippi, $2,636,000;7 [Courthouse, Federal office building, and parking facility, Lincoln, Nebraska, $21,307,000;7 Courthouse and Federal office building, Syracuse, New York, $19,087,000;7 [Courthouse, Federal office building, and parking facility, Akron, Ohio, $16,168,000;7 [Courthouse and Federal office building, San Juan, Puerto Rico, $20,471,000;7 [Peace Arch border station, Blaine, Washington, $1,657,000; and7 Post office and courthouse, La Crosse, Wisconsin, $6,097,000: Provided further, That the foregoing limits of costs may be exceeded to the extent that savings are effected in other projects, but by not to exceed 10 per centum [Appropriations herein and heretofore granted under this heading shall be available without regard to the second proviso under this heading in the Second Supplemental Appropriation Act, 1972.7 |
