How funds expended.

Sec. 2. The funds hereby appropriated shall be drawn and expended under the direction of the attorney general for the purposes above specified.

Sec. 3. That this act take effect and be in force from and after its passage.

CHAPTER 66.

HOUSE BILL No. 201.

AN ACT to appropriate the sum of $16,000.00 out of any funds, not otherwise appropriated, in the state treasury, to carry out the objects and provisions which provides for the placing and erecting of monument of Jefferson Davis on the national military park at Vicksburg, Mississippi, and to further commemorate the devotion to duty, patriotism, and heroic services of the president of the Confederacy.

For placing statue of Jefferson Davis in Vicksburg National Park.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the Legislature of the State of Mississippi, That the sum of $16,000.00 be and the same is hereby appropriated, out of any funds in the state treasury, not otherwise. appropriated, to carry out the provisions of the act of the legislature to be entitled "An act to further and commemorate the devotion to duty, etc., and providing for the statue of Jefferson Davis to be erected in the national military park at Vicksburg, Mississippi", which said act passed at the regular session of the legislature of 1924, and is now a law of the state.

Limit on traveling expenses.

Sec. 2. That of this sum herein provided not more than $1,000.00 need be used to defray the actual traveling expenses of the commissioner and for the inauguration of the statue at the Vicksburg national park.

How traveling expenses paid.

Sec. 3. That the traveling expenses for the said act shall be paid as follows:

Traveling expenses provided for in said act shall be approved by the president of the commission and the auditor, shall issue warrants for the same on the state treasury.

Individuals and associations may supplement appropriation.

Sec. 4. Nothing in this act shall prohibit individuals, associations or corporations from supplementing funds and on designating to the commission the use on the monument referred to.

How funds paid.

Sec. 5. That upon the approval and certificate of the commissioner appointed and elected for the purpose, the auditor shall issue warrants for the payment of the work done and material furnished by and to such sculptors and artists as approved and designated by the said commission.

Sec. 6. That this act take effect and be in force from and after its passage.

CHAPTER 67.

SENATE BILL No. 408.

AN ACT to appropriate ten thousand dollars as supplemental to a sum appropriated by chapter 79, laws of 1924.

For placing statues of Jefferson Davis and J. Z. George in Capitol at Washington-additional fund.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the Legislature of the State of Mississippi, That the sum of $10,000.00 or as much thereof as may be necessary, be and the same is hereby appropriated out of any money in the state treasury, not otherwise appropriated, for the purpose of carrying out the provisions of chapter 324, laws of 1924, entitled "An act to provide that the statues of Jeffereson Davis and James Z George be placed in Statuary Hall in the capitol at Washington, District of Columbia, and providing a commission to carry out the provisions of this act."

How funds to be used.

Sec. 2. That the funds appropriated by this act shall be used as supplemental to the amount appropriated by chapter 79, laws of 1924, to carry out the provisions of chapter 324, laws of 1924, as stated in section 1 of this act, the amount appropriated by chapter 79, laws of 1924, being insufficient for that purpose.

Detailed report to Legislature.

Sec. 3. That a full and complete report shall be made to the legislature of this expenditure as provided in chapters 79 and 324, respectively, of the laws of 1924.

Sec. 4. That this act take effect and be in force from and after its passage.

HOUSE BILL No. 286.

AN ACT to donate the sum of fifteen hundred dollars ($1,500.00) for each of the years 1926 and 1927 to the old ladies' home, located at Jackson, Mississippi.

Aid of old ladies' home.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the Legislature of the State of Mississippi, That there be donated out of any funds in the state treasury, not otherwise appropriated, the sum of fifteen hundred dollars ($1,500.00) for each of the years 1926 and 1927 as a donation to the old ladies' home, located at Jackson, Mississippi, which is a non-sectarian organization.

Sec. 2. That this act take effect and be in force from and after its passage.

CHAPTER 69.

HOUSE BILL No. 397.

AN ACT to make an appropriation to furnish water, lights and fuel, and for the repair and improvement of the governor's mansion and grounds.

To furnish fuel, etc., for governor's mansion.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the Legislature of the State of Mississippi, That the sum of thirty-five hundred ($3,500.00) dollars, or so much thereof as may be necessary, be and the same is hereby appropriated to be expended in providing for the construction of a garage and for furnishing water, lights, fuel, repairs and improvements for the governor's mansion and grounds for the years 1926 and 1927.

Sec. 2. That this act shall take effect and be in force from and after its approval.

CHAPTER 70.

HOUSE BILL No. 1331.

AN ACT to appropriate money for the support and maintenance of the state forestry commission for the years of 1926 and 1927.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the Legislature of the State of Mississippi, That there be and is hereby appropriated out of any funds in the state treasury not otherwise appropriated, the follow

Sec. 2. The funds hereby appropriated shall be drawn from the state treasury on warrants of the auditor of the state therefor which shall be issued by him upon certificates of the state forestry commission, or an executive committee of said commission, and all sums that shall not be used shall be covered back into the state treasury.

Sec. 3. This appropriation is made upon the condition that all funds herein provided for shall be accounted for in a detailed statement showing when, to whom and for what purpose applied, the said statement to be submitted to the next regular session of the legislature, and within ten days of the convening of same.

Sec. 4. That this act take effect and be in force from and after its passage.

CHAPTER 71.

HOUSE BILL NO. 1344.

AN ACT to appropriate the sum of one thousand ($1,000.00) dollars, or so much thereof as may be necessary, to defray the expense of publication of the constitutional amendments, as provided by law.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the Legislature of the State of Mississippi, That the sum of one thousand dollars, or so much thereof as may be necessary be and the same is hereby appropriated out of any money in the state treasury not otherwise appropriated, for the purpose of paying for the publication of the constitutional amendments, as provided by law, to be paid out on warrants of the auditor of public accounts issued on vouchers approved by the secretary of state.

Sec. 2. That this act take effect and be in force from and after its passage.

HOUSE BILL No. 287.

AN ACT making an appropriation towards supporting the fire department of the city of Jackson, for the better protection of the state's property for the years 1926 and 1927.

For fire protection of state property in Jackson.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the Legislature of the State of Mississippi, That the sum of one thousand dollars ($1,000.00) for the year 1926, and one thousand dollars ($1,000.00) for the year 1927, be, and the same is hereby appropriated out of any funds in the state treasury not otherwise appropriated towards paying the expenses of the fire department of the city of Jackson, for the better protection of property belonging to the state in and near the city.

Sec. 2. That this act take effect and be in force from and after its passage.

SENATE BILL No. 120.

AN ACT to appropriate money for the payment of /interest on state of Mississippi bonds maturing for the years 1926, 1927, and January, 1928.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the Legislature of the State of Mississippi, That the following sums of money, or as much thereof as may be necessary, be and the same are hereby appropriated, for the purpose of paying the interest on Mississippi bonds maturing during the years 1926, 1927, and January, 1928.
