6. Whosoever abideth in him sinneth not: whosoever sinneth hath not seen him, neither known him.

7. Little children, let no man deceive you: he that doeth righteousness is righteous, even as he is righteous.

8. He that committeth sin is of the devil; for the devil sinneth from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that he might destroy the works of the devil.

9. Whosoever is born of God doth not commit sin; for his seed remaineth in him: and he cannot sin, because he is born of God.

10. In this the children of God are manifest, and the children of the devil: whosoever doeth not righteousness is not of God, neither he that loveth not his brother.

13. Marvel not, my brethren, if the world hate you.

14. We know that we have passed from death unto life, because we love the brethren. He that loveth not his brother abideth in death.

15. Whosoever hateth his brother is a murderer: and ye know that no murderer hath eternal life abiding in him.

EVENING LESSON-ISA. 40: 27-31

PRAYER FOR TWENTY-EIGHTH THURSDAY AFTER TRINITY

Thou only, O Lord, makest us to dwell in safety. Through another night Thou hast kept us, and brought us to the morning.

We thank Thee for all temporal and spiritual good. Thou hast clothed and fed us, and kept us until this moment. Thy faithfulness in the past assures us for the future. Thou hast said, "Lo I am with Thee always." "The angel of the Lord encampeth round about them that fear Him."

We thank Thee for Thy many and wonderful promises, not one of which has ever failed, or can fail. Give us a more implicit faith in Thy Word.

Remember all our loved ones this day. May they ever be found faithful to Thee. Make all Thy people true and consistent. Bless and prosper Thy Church everywhere. May the unsaved be brought into Thy kingdom. May the love of Jesus Christ win all hearts to Thee. Abide with us this day, in our hearts, and home, for Thy dear Name's sake. Amen.

TWENTY-EIGHTH FRIDAY AFTER TRINITY MORNING LESSON-I JOHN 3:13-24

13. Marvel not, my brethren, if the world hate you.

14. We know that we have passed from death unto life, because we love the brethren. He that loveth not his brother abideth in death.

15. Whosoever hateth his brother is a murderer: and ye know that no murderer hath eternal life abiding in him.

16. Hereby perceive we the love of God, because he laid down his life for us: and we ought to lay down our lives for the brethren.

17. But whoso hath this world's good, and seeth his brother have need, and shutteth up his bowels of compassion from him, how dwelleth the love of God in him?

18. My little children, let us not love in word, neither in tongue; but in deed and in truth.

19. And hereby we know that we are of the truth, and shall assure our hearts before him.

20. For if our heart condemn us, God is greater than our heart, and knoweth all things.

21. Beloved, if our heart condemn us not, then have we confidence toward God.

22. And whatsoever we ask, we receive of him, because we keep his commandments, and do those things that are pleasing in his sight.

23. And this is his commandment, That we should believe on the name of his Son Jesus Christ, and love one another, as he gave us commandment.

24. And he that keepeth his commandments dwelleth in him, and he in him. And hereby we know that he abideth in us, by the Spirit which he hath given us.

EVENING LESSON-Jer. 14:7-22

PRAYER FOR TWENTY-EIGHTH FRIDAY AFTER TRINITY

Our blessed Lord, who hast created us, and redeemed us, and called us to be Thy followers, to Thee we come in the morning, to give thanks for the blessings of the night, and the morning; for home, and family, and opportunity. Thou hast given us our existence in a land of privilege, with unmeasured blessings. We thank Thee for them all, and pray that we may be worthy of our high calling. Help us ever to remember that we belong to the household of God, sons and daughters of the King.

We pray for all Thy wayward children, for those

who were brought into Thy fold in childhood, but have strayed away, for those who have forgotten their vows. Oh, may they be influenced by Thy Spirit to return. Thou art not willing that any should perish. Save, we beseech Thee, all who have heard the message. Bring all our loved ones into Thy kingdom, for Thy dear Name's sake. Amen.

TWENTY-EIGHTH SATURDAY AFTER TRINITY MORNING LESSON-I JOHN 4:1-12

1. Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of God: because many false prophets are gone out into the world.

2. Hereby know ye the Spirit of God: Every spirit that confesseth that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is of God:

3. And every spirit that confesseth not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is not of God: and this is that spirit of antichrist, whereof ye have heard that it should come; and even now already is it in the world.

4. Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world.

5. They are of the world: therefore speak they of the world, and the world heareth them.

6. We are of God: he that knoweth God heareth us; he that is not of God heareth not us. Hereby know we the spirit of truth, and the spirit of error.

7. Beloved, let us love one another: for love is of God; and every one that loveth is born of God, and knoweth God. 8. He that loveth not, knoweth not God; for God is love. 9. In this was manifested the love of God toward us, because that God sent his only begotten Son into the world, that we might live through him.

10. Herein is love, not that we loved God, but that he loved us, and sent his Son to be the propitiation for our sins. II. Beloved, if God so loved us, we ought also to love one another.

12. No man hath seen God at any time. If we love one another, God dwelleth in us, and his love is perfected in us. EVENING LESSON-MAL. 3:7-18

PRAYER FOR TWENTY-EIGHTH SATURDAY AFTER TRINITY

Merciful God, our Father, we thank Thee for the night and its refreshing sleep, and for the morning and its opportunities. We thank Thee for Thy pa

tience with us, and that mercy rejoices against judgment. We thank Thee that we are alive to-day, and have the privilege of serving Thee another day.

We would not go out into this day without Thy guidance and care. So weak we are, and so prone to sin, unless Thou guide us we are sure to go astray.

We pray for all our household this day, and for all Thy children everywhere. Bring back the wanderers who have strayed from the home, and from the household of God. Forbid that any should be lost who once were in the kingdom.

May Thy Spirit move upon the hearts of the unsaved and bring them to Thee. May all the children hear Thy voice, and come unto Thee early in life. We pray that out of our homes may come many young men to preach Thy Word. Oh, make us all faithful laborers in Thy harvest field, that we may share in the joy of the harvest home, and the praise and the glory shall be Thine, world without end. Amen.

HARVEST FESTIVAL

MORNING LESSON-LUKE 12:22-31

22. And he said unto his disciples, Therefore I say unto you, Take no thought for your life, what ye shall eat; neither for the body, what ye shall put on.

23. The life is more than meat, and the body is more than raiment.

24. Consider the ravens: for they neither sow nor reap; which neither have storehouse nor barn: and God feedeth them how much more are ye better than the fowls?

25. And which of you with taking thought can add to his stature one cubit?

26. If ye then be not able to do that thing which is least, why take ye thought for the rest?

27. Consider the lilies how they grow: they toil not, they spin not; and yet I say unto you, that Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these.

28. If then God so clothe the grass, which is to day in the field, and to morrow is cast into the oven; how much more will he clothe you, O ye of little faith?

29. And seek not ye what ye shall eat, or what ye shall drink, neither be ye of doubtful mind.

30. For all these things do the nations of the world seek

after and your Father knoweth that ye have need of these things.

31. But rather seek ye the kingdom of God; and all these things shall be added unto you.

EVENING LESSON-GAL. 6: 1-10

PRAYER FOR HARVEST FESTIVAL

Thou great Creator of heaven and earth, the sea and all that therein is, we thank Thee that our existence has been cast in such a goodly land, where want and famine are unknown. Thou hast given us our meat in due season. Men have planted and watered, and Thou hast given the increase. We thank Thee for bountiful harvests, abundance of food for man and beast.

May Thy people never forget from whom all our blessings come. Thou hast given us every good gift, and they are perfect, every one.

Now, dear Lord, give us thankful hearts. May a thankful spirit pervade the hearts of all Thy children, and do Thou continue Thy loving favor to us, and to all Thy people. May Thy face ever be turned toward this land in love.

We pray now for spiritual food. May there never be a famine of spiritual bread among us, and may we have such a hunger for the Bread of Life that nothing but Thy presence can fill. Lord, abide in our home and hearts, now and evermore, for Thy dear Name's sake. Amen.

REFORMATION

MORNING LESSON-Ps. 46

1. God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.

2. Therefore will not we fear, though the earth be removed, and though the mountains be carried into the midst of the sea;

3. Though the waters thereof roar and be troubled, though the mountains shake with the swelling thereof. Selah.

4. There is a river, the streams whereof shall make glad the city of God, the holy place of the tabernacles of the Most High.
