26. But ye believe not, because ye are not of my sheep, as I said unto you.

EVENING LESSON-Isa. 4:2-6

PRAYER FOR SIXTH TUESDAY AFTER EASTER

Blessed Master, humbly we come before Thee this morning. Thy mercies new every morning and fresh every evening, call forth from our hearts daily thanksgiving. Thanks be unto Thee for the morning, for the night's rest and refreshing, for the peace and quiet, for health, and the right use of all our faculties. Breathe upon us Thine own Holy Spirit as we go forth into this day, that He may guide us into all the truth.

We pray not only for ourselves and our loved ones, but for all the unsaved, for the wanderers from home, for the prodigals, weary of sin. Oh, may they come back to the Father's house. May all who are in darkness be brought to see the Light. Help us, who are so favored to bring the Light of the World to the whole world, for the sake of Thy dear Name. Amen.

SIXTH WEDNESDAY AFTER EASTER

MORNING LESSON-MAT, 28: 11-20

11. Now when they were going, behold, some of the watch came into the city, and shewed unto the chief priests all the things that were done.

12. And when they were assembled with the elders, and had taken counsel, they gave large money unto the soldiers,

13. Saying, Say ye, His disciples came by night, and stole him away while we slept.

14. And if this come to the governor's ears, we will persuade him, and secure you.

15. So they took the money, and did as they were taught: and this saying is commonly reported among the Jews until this day.

16. Then the eleven disciples went away into Galilee, into a mountain where Jesus had appointed them.

17. And when they saw him, they worshipped him: but some doubted.

18. And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth.

19. Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost:

20. Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen.

EVENING LESSON-ISA. 29: 18-24

PRAYER FOR SIXTH WEDNESDAY AFTER

EASTER

Most merciful God, our Father, with joy and gladness we come to Thee in the morning, because of the blessings of the night, and the morning. Kindly Thou hast watched over us, patiently Thou hast borne with us, mercifully Thou hast pardoned us, when we asked of Thee. Now we come again, needy as we always are, for we cannot live without Thee. Send upon us Thy Holy Spirit to-day. In Him we have all things.

Thou knowest all the desires of our hearts. Take away from us every impure longing, every unholy passion. May our only purpose be to glorify Thee. We pray for all Thy needy children, for all who suffer and are in distress, for those whose hearts are filled with sorrow, whether from bereavement or other causes. May Thy promise, "Blessed are they that mourn," be fulfilled to them. Speed the day, O Lord, when all the world shall know Thee, from the least to the greatest, and all may turn unto Thee and be saved. We ask all in Thy dear Name. Amen.

ASCENSION DAY

MORNING LESSON-ACTS 1:1-12

1. The former treatise have I made, O Theophilus, of all that Jesus began both to do and teach.

2. Until the day in which he was taken up, after that he through the Holy Ghost had given commandments unto the apostles whom he had chosen :

3. To whom also he shewed himself alive after his passion by many infallible proofs, being seen of them forty days, and speaking of the things pertaining to the kingdom of God:

4. And, being assembled together with them, commanded them that they should not depart from Jerusalem, but wait for the promise of the Father, which, saith he, ye have heard of me.

5. For John truly baptized with water; but ye shall be baptized with the Holy Ghost not many days hence.

6. When they therefore were come together, they asked of him, saying, Lord, wilt thou at this time restore again the kingdom to Israel?

7. And he said unto them, It is not for you to know the times or the seasons, which the Father hath put in his own power.

8. But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth.

9. And when he had spoken these things, while they beheld, he was taken up; and a cloud received him out of their sight.

10. And while they looked steadfastly toward heaven as he went up, behold, two men stood by them in white apparel:

II. Which also said, Ye men of Galilee, why stand ye gazing up into heaven? this same Jesus, which is taken up from you into heaven, shall so come in like manner as ye have seen him go into heaven.

12. Then returned they unto Jerusalem from the mount called Olivet, which is from Jerusalem a sabbath day's journey. EVENING LESSON-EPH. 1:1-23

PRAYER FOR ASCENSION DAY

Our gracious Lord and Master, Thy love and mercy have brought us to another great event in Thy work for us on the earth. Thou didst not only suffer and die, but as conqueror over death and the grave Thou didst come forth unto victory. And when Thou didst show, by many infallible proofs that Thou wast the very same that suffered and died, Thou didst ascend in the presence of them all. We thank Thee for the lessons of the ascension.

We look up, because Thou didst go up, and hast taught us by Thine own example to lift up our eyes unto the hills. Help us to tarry in Jerusalem until we too shall be endowed with power from on high.

Remember all Thy Holy Church this day, in whatever land or nation. May she go forth valiantly, conquering, and to conquer. Cheer up all who are cast down, or any who may be sick. Pity the poor, and raise up friends to help all who are in need. Guide our steps this day in Jesus' Name. Amen.

SIXTH FRIDAY AFTER EASTER

MORNING LESSON-LUKE 24: 44-53

44. And he said unto them, These are the words which I spake unto you, while I was yet with you, that all things must be fulfilled, which were written in the law of Moses, and in the prophets, and in the psalms, concerning me.

45. Then opened he their understanding, that they might understand the Scriptures,

46. And said unto them, Thus it is written, and thus it behooved Christ to suffer, and to rise from the dead the third day:

47. And that repentance and remission of sins should be preached in his name among all nations, beginning at Jerusalem.

48. And ye are witnesses of these things.

49. And, behold, I send the promise of my Father upon you: but tarry ye in the city of Jerusalem, until ye be endued with power from on high.

50. And he led them out as far as to Bethany, and he lifted up his hands, and blessed them.

51. And it came to pass, while he blessed them, he was parted from them, and carried up into heaven.

52. And they worshipped him, and returned to Jerusalem with great joy:

53. And were continually in the temple, praising and blessing God. Amen.

EVENING LESSON-MICAH 7:7-13

PRAYER FOR SIXTH FRIDAY AFTER EASTER O Jesus, our risen and ascended Lord, we come to bring Thee our morning worship. As Thy disciples worshiped Thee, so would we. We bring Thee the homage of our hearts, and would each day consecrate ourselves anew to Thee. Daily we commit sin and go away from Thee, and have need to come back. O Lord, enter not into judgment with us, and visit not our iniquities upon us. Thou knowest our frame, and rememberest that we are but dust. Have Thou respect unto our desires and longings, and pity our infirmities and weaknesses. Help us to be strong to resist sin, and to work for Thee.

Bless all our household this day, and all our loved ones. Bless the community in which we live, and the nation of which we are a part. Make our rulers godly men, and the people law-abiding citizens. Pity the

poor, and raise up friends to help them. Give us the helping hand for all who are in need. May they ever find in us a friend. Put it into the hearts of young men to preach Thy Word. Show them the glory of it. May the time soon come when the whole world shall know and serve Thee. May the heathen be given to Thee for Thine inheritance and the uttermost parts of the earth for Thy possession, and Thine shall be the glory for evermore. Amen.

SIXTH SATURDAY AFTER EASTER

MORNING LESSON-ACTS 1: 12-26

15. And in those days Peter stood up in the midst of the disciples, and said, (the number of names together were about a hundred and twenty,)

16. Men and brethren, this Scripture must needs have been fulfilled, which the Holy Ghost by the mouth of David spake before concerning Judas, which was guide to them that took Jesus.

17. For he was numbered with us, and had obtained part of this ministry.

18. Now this man purchased a field with the reward of iniquity; and falling headlong, he burst asunder in the midst, and all his bowels gushed out.

19. And it was known unto all the dwellers at Jerusalem; insomuch as that field is called, in their proper tongue, Aceldama, that is to say, The field of blood.

20. For it is written in the book of Psalms, Let his habitation be desolate, and let no man dwell therein: and, His bishoprick let another take.

21. Wherefore of these men which have companied with us all the time that the Lord Jesus went in and out among us,

22. Beginning from the baptism of John, unto that same day that he was taken up from us, must one be ordained to be a witness with us of his resurrection.

23. And they appointed two, Joseph called Barsabas, who was surnamed Justus, and Matthias.

24. And they prayed, and said, Thou, Lord, which knowest the hearts of all men, shew whether of these two thou hast chosen,

25. That he may take part of this ministry and apostleship, from which Judas by transgression fell, that he might go to his own place.

26. And they gave forth their lots; and the lot fell upon Matthias; and he was numbered with the eleven apostles. EVENING LESSON-MICAH 7:8-20
