CHAPTER 59.

HOUSE BILL No. 308.

AN ACT making an appropriation in the aid of the North East Mississippi Hospital and providing for the disbursement of the same for the years 1922 and 1923.

Northeast Mississippi Hospital-support fund.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the Legislature of the State of Mississippi, That there be and is hereby appropriated, out of any money in the state treasury not otherwise appropriated, the sum of two thousand dollars ($2,000.00) for the year 1922, and two thousand dollars ($2,000.00) for the year 1923, to aid the support of the North East Mississippi Hospital; provided, there shall be maintained in said hospital as many as ten beds for charity patients only; provided further, that the amounts so appropriated shall be drawn and expended according to the directions of a board of trustees to consist of three members to be appointed by the governor, who shall serve without compensation. They shall see that the funds are used for charitable purposes under such rules and regulations as may be adopted by them, subject to the approval of the governor. Provided that the town of Booneville and Prentiss county shall contribute one thousand dollars ($1,000.00) each year to this hospital.

Provided, further, that said North East Mississippi Hospital shall now be and continue to be operated by its board of trustees without profit or compensation to its stockholders.

How funds to be drawn from treasury.

Sec. 2. The funds hereby appropriated shall be drawn from the state treasury on warrants of the auditor of the state therefor, which shall be issued by him only upon the certificate of the board of trustees approved by the governor.

Itemized statement of disbursements required.

Sec. 3. The trustees shall prepare and submit to the governor of the state on or before January 1st, 1924, a detailed statement of all disbursements made by them, which statement shall be transmitted by the governor to the legislature of the state of Mississippi during its session of 1924.

Sec. 4. That this act take effect and be in force from and after its passage.

HOUSE BILL No. 869.

AN ACT appropriating out of any money in the state treasury, not otherwise appropriated, five thousand dollars ($5,000.00) for the year 1922, and five thousand dollars ($5,000.00) for the year 1923 for the aid of the Mississippi King's Daughters Home at Natchez, Mississippi.

To aid King's Daughters Home at Natchez.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the Legislature of the State of Mississippi, That there is hereby appropriated out of any money in the state treasury, not otherwise appropriated, the sum of five thousand dollars ($5,000.00) for the year 1922, and the sum of five thousand dollars ($5,000.00) for the year 1923 for the aid of the Mississippi King's Daughters Home at Natchez, Mississippi, and provided that the money so appropriated out of the state treasury shall be drawn and expended only according to the board of trustees for the control and disbursement of the funds herein appropriated, to consist of three trustees, two of whom shall be women, to be appointed by the governor, by and with the advice of the senate, who shall serve for two years without compensation. They shall see that the funds so appropriated are used for charitable purposes only under such rules and regulations as they may adopt.

How money to be drawn from treasury.

Sec. 2. That the funds hereby appropriated shall be drawn from the state treasury on warrants of the auditor of the state therefor, which shall be issued by him only by certificates of the board of trustees, which certificates shall be drawn in equal monthly installments only.

Itemized statement of all disbursements required.

Sec. 3. That the trustees shall prepare and submit a detailed statement of all disbursements made by them to the governor on or before the first day of January, 1924, which statement shall be submitted by the governor to the legislature at the session held in 1924.

Sec. 4. That this act shall take effect and be in force from and after its passage.

CHAPTER 61.

SENATE BILL No. 290.

AN ACT to appropriate the sum of two thousand dollars ($2,000.00) for the year 1922, and two thousand dollars ($2,000.00) for the year 1923, to the King's Daughters Sanitorium of McComb, Mississippi, for the purpose of taking care of charity patients in the southwest section of Mississippi.

To aid King's Daughters Sanitorium at McComb.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the Legislature of the State of Mississippi, That the sum of two thousand dollars ($2,000.00) for the year 1922, and two thousand dollars ($2,000.00) for the year 1923, be and the same is hereby appropriated out of any funds in the state treasury, not otherwise appropriated, for the purpose of taking care of charity patients at the King's Daughters Sanitorium at McComb City, Mississippi. Provided that the city of McComb and the county of Pike shall contribute to the charity wards the sum of one thousand dollars ($1,000.00) per annum, and provided that not less than five (5) beds shall be maintained for charity patients. How funds to be paid out by state treasurer.

Sec. 2. The money above appropriated shall be paid by the state treasurer out of any money in the state treasury not otherwise appropriated, and shall be payable quarterly; upon a statement showing the number of charity patients, the days served and their names, for said quarterly period, verified by the superintendent of said sanitorium, and the number served at $2.00 per day shall be the maximum: to be paid for said quarter, not to exceed $500.00. And provided that the money so appropriated out of the state treasury shall be drawn and expended only according to the direction of a board of trustees, consisting of three trustees, all of whom shall be appointed by the governor, and who shall serve without compensation, and that said board of trustees shall see that said sums of money are used for charity patients under such rules and regulations as they may adopt.

The said officers shall make a biennial report of expenditures to the legislature at next session.

Sec. 3. That this act take effect and be in force from and after its passage.

SENATE BILL No. 421.

AN ACT making an appropriation in the aid of King's Daughters Hospital, at Clarksdale, Mississippi, and providing for the disbursement of same for the years 1922 and 1923.

King's Daughters Hospital at Clarksdale-appropriation for.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the Legislature of the State of Mississippi, That there be and is hereby appropriated out of any money in the state treasury, not otherwise appropriated, the sum of five thousand ($5,000.00) dollars for the year 1922, and the sum of five thousand ($5,000.00) dollars for the year 1923, in aid of the King's Daughters Hospital at Clarksdale, Mississippi, provided that the city of Clarkedale and the county of Coahoma will each raise the sum of five thousand ($5,000.00) dollars for each of the years 1922 and 1923.

How funds to be drawn from treasury.

Sec. 2. The funds hereby appropriated shall be drawn from the state treasury on warrants of the auditor of the state therefor, which shall be issued by him only upon the certificate of the board of trustees.

And provided that the money so appropriated shall be drawn and expended, only according to the direction of the board of trustees, which shall consist of seven members, three of whom shall be appointed by the governor, two of whom shall be appointed by the mayor and board of aldermen of the city of Clarksdale and two of whom shall be appointed by the board of supervisors of Coahoma county. All of said trustees shall serve without compensation and shall see that said sums of money are used for charity purposes under such rules and regulations as they may adopt. And provided further that said hospital shall maintain not less than twenty beds for charity patients.

Sec. 3. That this act take effect and be in force from and after its passage.

CHAPTER 63.

HOUSE BILL No. 128.

AN ACT making an appropriation of ten thousand dollars ($10,000.00) in the aid of the King's Daughters Hospital and Training School, at Gulfport, Mississippi, and providing for the disbursement of same for the years of 1922 and 1923.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the Legislature of the State of Mississippi, That there is hereby appropriated out of any money in the state treasury, not otherwise appropriated, the sum of five thousand dollars ($5,000.00) for the year 1922, and the sum of five

thousand dollars ($5,000.00) for the year 1923, for the aid of the King's Daughters Hospital and Training School at Gulfport, Mississippi, provided that the city of Gulfport and the county of Harrison will each contribute the sum of one thousand dollars ($1,000.00) for each of the years 1922 and 1923, for said hospital; and provided further that the money so appropriated out of the state treasury and contributed by the city of Gulfport and the county of Harrison, shall be drawn and expended only according to the board of trustees of the said King's Daughters Hospital and Training School, provided three trustees for the control and disbursement of the fund herein appropriated shall be appointed by the governor, by and with the advice of the Senate, who shall serve without compensation. They shall see that the funds are used for charitable purposes under such rules and regulations as they may adopt, subject to the approval of the governor, provided that nurses in training shall be paid eight dollars ($8.00) per month.

Sec. 2. The funds hereby appropriated shall be drawn from the state areasurer on warrants of the auditor of the state therefor, which shall be issued by him, only by certificate of the board of trustees, which certificate shall be approved by the governor.

Sec. 3. The trustees shall prepare and submit a detailed statement of all disbursements made by them to the governor on or before the first day of January, 1924, which statement shall be transmitted to the legislature by the governor at the session held in 1924.

Sec. 4. That this act take effect and be in force from and after its passage.

AN ACT making an appropriation for the support and maintenance of a charity ward in the Winona Hospital located in Winona, Mississippi.
