The Bureau of the Census is preparing to conduct the Census of Commercial Fisheries, covering the year 1963, as authorized by Act of Congress (13 U.S.C.). The filing of returns is required under this Act.

In order to supplement the mailing list of companies primarily engaged in commercial fishing, we are sending this questionnaire to all companies who have one or more establishments whose primary activity is canning, curing and packaging of seafood, processing of marine animals for oil products, or wholesale distribution of fish and seafood.

If your company was not engaged in fishing for your own use or for sale during 1963, complete
items 1 and 3 and return this form. If you were engaged in such fishing, please complete the
entire form and list in item 2 the home ports from which your boats or vessels were operated.
This will enable the Census Bureau, early in 1964, to furnish you with the appropriate
questionnaire(s) for the 1963 Census of Commercial Fisheries. Please note that your fishing
operations should, therefore, not be included on either your Census of Manufactures or Census
of Business report forms.

Please complete and return the original copy of this form. You may retain the green copy for your files. The report submitted to the Census Bureau is seen only by sworn Census employees. You can assist us by completing and returning this report within 20 days of receipt.
