4/8/92 имми Q 180.55 66 R47 1992 FOREWORD ENGINEERING This order establishes policies and procedures for the award and administration of grants under the Research Grants Program. The purpose of this program is to encourage and support innovative, advanced research in areas of potential benefit to the long-term growth of civil aviation; areas related to research on the prevention of catastrophic failures; and areas related to research, development, and implementation of technologies and procedures to counteract terrorist acts against civil aviation. Crucial to the realization of this goal is the pursuit of basic and applied research in scientific and engineering disciplines which have the potential to further knowledge and understanding on a broad front of emerging technologies. The program is an integration of award authority for three grant programs and two Center of Excellence programs established in two statutes. Policies and procedures applicable to Centers of Excellence will be incorporated in this order subsequently.
