CHLORALUM,

THE

HOUSEHOLD DISINFECTANT. SAFE, ODOURLESS, AND NON-POISONOUS.

CHLORALUM, CHLORALUM POWDER, and CHLORALUM
WOOL are active deodorisers, and invaluable in

stamping out’ fevers.

Dr. Edwin LANKESTER held an inquest on the 1st of May 1871 on the body of John Edwards, a cab-driver, who had been depressed in spirits for some days, and swallowed intentionally some carbolic acid which had been obtained to disinfect the house. The Coroner said, “There had been a number of lives lost lately through poisonous disinfectants. All poisonous disinfectants should be excluded from the household, and such an agent as Chloralum used, which might be left about without danger.'

CHLORALUM IN SMALL-Pox. -The Chloralum Company have received the subjoined communication :

Small-pox Hospital, New St., E.C., Feb. 20, 1871. «The Chloralum Company. - Gentlemen,-The patients in my hospital feel much comfort from the uso of Chloralum as a wash. It seems to lessen the itching, and cools tbem nicely. We employ it in scouring the wards, and find it, from its freedom from odour, preferable to carbolic acid, and quite as efficacious.

Yours obediently, (Signed) 'F. GORDON BROWN, Medical Officer.'

Chloralum is largely used by Health Boards in the state

of Liquid and Powder.

In a letter to the Times of September 8th, Dr. Percy says:The practical point it is my wish to enforce is that with such an agent as Chloralum, possessing the activo properties of hydrochloric acid, it is possible etlectually to disinfect; and wherever offensive matter exists, especially in the sick room, this agent should be used. I especially advocate Chloralum because not only is its power known to me, but, in my opinion, it has no substitute.'
