RESPONSE. These increases are associated with FAS's overseas attache and trade offices in both fiscal year 1996 and fiscal year 1997. Payments will be made to foreign local proprietors worldwide for rental or lease of offices, storage, and warehouse space as well as residential space. This also includes rental or lease of exhibit space overseas for FAS-sponsored exhibits and conference rooms for training and meetings as necessary throughout the world.

SUPPLIES AND MATERIALS

Mr. SKEEN. Please explain the increase of $190,000 in Object Class 26, Supplies and Materials, in fiscal year 1997.

RESPONSE. This increase is for supplies and materials of a make-ready nature for the overseas offices and residences for the post expansion initiative.

RESPONSE. Of the $128,000 available for representation activities in fiscal year 1995, $36,469 was used in Washington and $85,692 was used overseas.
