This committee print is a revision of the January 31, 1969, committee print entitled "The Basic Laws and Authorities on Housing and Urban Development." The compilation of laws and authorities contained in this committee print was provided in response to numerous requests from Members of Congress and the public. The revision is made necessary by laws enacted in 1969 and the issuance of new Executive orders ́ by the President.

The laws, Executive orders, and other authorities contained in the print are those which authorize the functions and activities of the Department of Housing and Urban Development, or which are closely related to those functions and activities.

For convenience, cross references (including United States Code citations) are made in the committee print to other laws that are related to the activities of the Department of Housing and Urban Development, but are not set forth in this compilation.

The laws and authorities are arranged in the committee print in accordance with their subject matter. They are divided principally among housing, urban development, related functions and provisions, and organization and administration of the Department of Housing and Urban Development. The index assists in use of the committee print.

There is also included in the publication an identification of programs of the Department frequently referred to by section number.

The committee has been assisted in the preparation of this revised compilation by the Office of General Counsel in the Department of Housing and Urban Development.
