Purpose

The purpose of THE U. S. ARMY IN WORLD WAR II is to provide the Army with an accurate and timely account of its varied activities in the conduct of war. These volumes will serve as background for study in service schools and in all components of the Army, as well as a ready reference for unit and staff personnel. In addition, the books should be made available to individual members of the Armed Forces who seek to extend their military reading and knowledge.

Accountability

Upon receipt of this book from distributing agencies through normal Adjutant General publications channels it will be picked up as accountable property and will be transferred, accounted for, and disposed of in the manner prescribed for library books in permanent libraries as set forth in current regulations. It is subject to the provisions of those Army regulations applying to Government-owned books procured from appropriated funds.
