[621.] An act of the town-council of Edin'burgh, dated April 9. 1777, for keeping clean the ftreets, and preventing nuifan'ces, was duly published foon after its date. As it was found, that the profecuting of fervants had not answered the intention of former [xxxii. 712.] regulations, the procurator-fifcal is by the laft act injoined to cite the mafters or miftreffes of the families; and in queftions between mafters and fervants, the fervants having tranfgreffed this act is to be held a fufficient ground for difmiffion. In March laft, propofals were published, by Dr Andrew Duncan, phyfician in Edinburgh, for eftablishing, in that city, a public difpenfary, for the relief of the poor, when fubjected to chronical or tedious difeafes. It was propofed, to conjoin with the practice of medicine which this charity would afford, lectures on the cafes of the patients who fhould reap the benefit of it.
