to conceive, that when the Earth is in E, the Planet at H will be feen among the Fixed Stars at M, and fo he will also when the Earth is arrived at D; therefore all the time the Earth is palling from E to D, the Planet will feem to ftand till about M, and is faid to be ftationary. Again, whent the Earth is arrived at C, the Planet will really be moved forwards to G, but will be seen from the Earth at C, among the Stars at N; wherefore while the Earth paffeth Eaftsvard from D to C, the Planet will appear to move Westward from M to N in the heavens, which is backward ; also while the Earth moves from C to B, the Planet will fill feem to move backwards from N to O, where it will again be fationary till the Earth comes to A. While the Earth paffes from E to D, and from B to A, the Planet Jupiter will appear not to move in the points M and O; and then he is faid to be stationary. Alfo while the Earth is paffing from D by C to B, and though Jupiter really moves in his orb from H to F Eastward, yet he will feem to us to move from M to O Weftward, or backwards, and during that time is faid to be retrograde. PROPOSALS For MAKING, and PUBLISHING by SUBSCRIPTION, A new and accurate MAP of the County of LEICESTER, From an actual Survey of the fame. BY THOMAS PEAT, of Thrington, Surveyor, and Affiftants. In this Map will be particularly noted and planned all the Market Towns, with their true Diftances, and all notable Villages thro' which any principal Roads do país. The Place and Distance of every Village will be truly afcertained, and expreffed. All the great Roads, and Turnpikes, will be taken and laid down from Chain Measure, as also the fmaller from one Village to another, and a proper Distinction preserved. The County will be truly bounded, and properly divided according to its feveral Hundreds. The Foreft Boundaries, and thofe of the large Commons, will be pointed out. The Course of all the Rivers and Rivulets, will be exactly defcribed. The feveral Seats of the Nobility and Gentry, will be truly fixed in this Map. All Places noted for Curiofities in Nature, as Minerals, &c. or for Antiquities, or any remarkable Occurrences, will be taken Notice of in fuch manner as to render it also a general View of the natural History of the COUNTY. Alfo the LATITUDE of every Market Town will be accurately determined, together with its LONGITUDE from the Meridian of LONDON, &c. CONDITIONS. This Work will be Engraved by the best Hands; and decorated with the Arms of fuch of the Nobility and Gentry, as choose to have them emblazon'd; and other proper Embellishments, fo as to render the Whole as compleat as any Thing of the Kind. The Scale is propofed to be one Statute Mile in an Inch. The Price to Subfcribers will be Half a Guinea; Five Shillings to be paid in the Course of the Survey, and the Remainder on Delivery of the Map; except those who have their Arms in the Margin; who are to pay Half a Guinea, at Subfcribing, and Half a Guinea more on the Delivery.
