Five of the above companies have been reinsured, viz:

Aachen & Munich Fire Insurance Co. with the Tokio Fire & Marine Insurance Co. Hamburg-Bremen Fire Insurance Co. with the Home Insurance Co.

Mercury Reinsurance Co.

Prussian Life Insurance Co. with the Metropolitan Life Insurance Co.

Prussian National Insurance Co. with the American Merchant Marine Insurance Co. The International Insurance Co. of New York was sold for the sum of $575,000 to Crum & Forster, of New York.

The Hamburg Assurance Co. was not licensed by the Treasury Department to liquidate. The entire assets, therefore, amounting to $370,500, have been taken over by the custodian. Among the assets of the Hamburg Assurance Co. and not included in the above total is an item of German bonds of the par value of $150,000.

1 During 1918 the Great American Insurance Co. increased its capital stock and surplus and issued warrants for rights to purchase new stock. At that time the Alien Property Custodian held 1,821 shares. The rights on the stock held by the custodian were sold for $273,150 to Potter, Choate & Prentice, of New York.
