Whoever, whether a person, association, or corporation, makes any contribution to, or in any way supplements the salary of, any Government official or employee for the services performed by him for the Government of the United States

Shall be fined not more than $1,000 or imprisoned not more than six months, or both. June 25, 1948, c. 645, 62 Stat. 793.

CHAPTER 307.-EMPLOYMENT

Section 4124. Purchase of prison-made products by Federal departments.

The several Federal departments and agencies and all other Government institutions of the United States shall purchase at not to exceed current market prices, such products of the industries authorized by this chapter as meet their requirements and may be available.

Disputes as to the price, quality, character, or suitability of such products shall be arbitrated by a board consisting of the Comptroller General of the United States, the Administrator of General Services, and the Director of the Bureau of the Budget, or their representatives. Their decision shall be final and binding upon all parties. As amended October 31, 1951, c. 655, § 32, 65 Stat. 723.

The Secretary of the Army is authorized to furnish to the National Museum, for exhibition, upon request therefor by the administrative head thereof, such articles of arms, materiel, equipment, or clothing as have been issued from time to time to the United States Army, or which have been or may hereafter be produced for the United States Army, and which are objects of general interest or of foreign or curious research, provided that such articles can be spared. Section 1764. Penalties for accepting commissions, etc., for procurement services by United States officers and

employees.

Whoever offers or gives to anyone who is or in the preceding two years has been an employee or officer of the United States any commission, payment or gift, in connection with the procurement of equipment, materials, commodities, or services under this chapter in connection with which procurement said officer, employee, former officer or former employee is or was employed or performed duty or took any action during such employment, and whoever, being or having been an employee or officer of the United States in the preceding two years, solicits, accepts or offers to accept any commission, payment, or gift in connection with the procurement of equipment, materials, commodities, or services under this chapter in connection with which procurement said officer, employee, former officer or former employee is or was employed or performed duty or took any action during such employment, shall upon conviction thereof be subject to a fine of not to exceed $10,000 or imprisonment for not to exceed three years, or both: Provided, That this section shall not apply to persons appointed pursuant to section 1790 (a) or 1898 of this title.
