CHAPTER 87.

SENATE BILL No. 418.

AN ACT to appropriate the sum of $900.00 for the year 1918 and $900.00 for the year 1919, for the salary of a stenographer for the railroad commission.

For pay of stenographer for railroad commission.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the Legislature of the State of Mississippi, That the sum of seven hundred dollars for the year 1918, and the sum of nine hundred ($900.00) for the year 1919, be, and the same are hereby appropriated out of any money not otherwise appropriated for the salary of a stenographer for the railroad commission.

Sec. 2. That this act take effect and be in force from and after its passage.

HOUSE BILL No. 719.

AN ACT to appropriate the sum of $800.00 for the year 1918 and $800.00 for the year 1919 to pay the salary increase of the two assistant attorneys general, as authorized by house bill No. 675.

To pay salary increase of two assistant attorneys general.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the Legislature of the State of Mississippi, That there be and is hereby appropriated out of any moneys in the state treasury not otherwise appropriated eight hundred ($800.00) dollars for the year 1918 and eight hundred ($800.00) dollars for the year 1919 to pay the salary increase for said years for the two assistant attorneys general as authorized by house bill No. 675.

Sec. 2. That this act take effect and be in force from and after its passage.

CHAPTER 89.

SENATE BILL No. 484.

AN ACT to appropriate the sum of $340.00 for the year 1918 and $340.00 for the year 1919 to pay the salary increase of the two stenographers in the attorney generals office, as authorized by senate bill No. 481. Salary increase for two stenographers in attorney general's office.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the Legislature of the State of Mississippi, That there be and is hereby appropriated out of any moneys in the state treasury not otherwise appropriated three hundred and forty ($340.00) dollars for the year 1918 and three hundred and forty ($340.00) for the year 1919 to pay the salary increase for said years for the two stenographers in the attorney generals office as authorized by senate bill No. 481.

Sec. 2. That this act take effect and be in force from and after its passage.

CHAPTER 90.

SENATE BILL No. 476.

AN ACT to appropriate money to pay a twenty per cent (20%) increase in salaries of two clerks of the state department of education,

For salary increase of two clerks in department of education.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the Legislature of the State of Mississippi, That the sum of seven hundred and twenty dollars ($720.00), be and the same is hereby appropriated out of any funds in the state treasury not otherwise appropriated, for the twenty per cent (20%) increase in salaries of the two clerks in the state department of education for the years 1918 and 1919.

Sec. 2. That this act take effect and be in force from and after its passage.

SENATE BILL No. 435.

AN ACT to increase the pay of John T. Harris, foreman of porters for the years 1918 and 1919.

For increase of salary of foreman of capitol.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the Legislature of the State of Mississippi, That the sum of one hundred and twenty dollars for

each of the years 1918 and 1919 be and is hereby appropriated out of any money in the state treasury not otherwise appropriated for increase in the salary of John T. Harris, foreman of porters of the state capitol, being an increase in the salary of said foreman of twenty per cent.

To supplement H. B. 523.

Sec. 2. That this act is supplemental to house bill No. 523 and the money shall be paid in the same manner as provided in said house bill No. 523.

Sec. 3. That this act take effect and be in force from and after its passage.

CHAPTER 92.

HOUSE BILL No. 501.

AN ACT to appropriate the sum of fifty dollars ($50.00) to W. E. Hopper, for the capture and delivery of Robert Reaves, a convict who escaped from the Forrest county jail, before being transferred to the state penitentiary, to the proper penitentiary authorities.

To pay W. E. Hopper for capture of a convict.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the Legislature of the State of Mississippi, That the sum of fifty dollars ($50.00) be, and the same is hereby appropriated to W. E. Hopper, for the capture and delivery of Robert Reaves, a convict who escaped from the Forrest county jail, while waiting there to be transferred to the state penitentiary, to serve a ten year sentence, for the crime of rape.

Sec. 2. That this act take effect and be in force from and after its passage.

HOUSE BILL No. 669.

AN ACT to appropriate the sum of $80.54 to pay Thomas S. Bratton, of Jackson, Mississippi, for legal services rendered the state of Mississippi in collecting the sum of $536.95 for the state under the employment of the state land commissioner.

To pay Thos. S. Bratton for legal services.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the Legislature of the State of Mississippi, That the sum of $80.54 be and the same is hereby ap

propriated out of any money in the state treasury not otherwise appropriated to pay Thomas S. Bratton, a lawyer of Jackson, Mississippi, for legal services rendered in the state of Mississippi in collecting the sum of $536.95 from the Quito Supply Company for rental of "Wildwood Place," Leflore county, under employment of the state land commissioner on a fifteen per cent contingent fee,

Sec. 2. That this act take effect and be in force from and after its passage.

CHAPTER 94.

SENATE BILL No. 387.

AN ACT to appropriate the sum of $18.00 for taxes erroneously assessed against the bank of Hickory Flat for the year 1915.

To refund Bank of Hickory Flat for taxes erroneously paid.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the Legislature of the State of Mississippi, That there is hereby appropriated out of any money in the state treasury not otherwise appropriated, the sum of $18.00 to re-imburse the bank of Hickory Flat for taxes erroneously assessed and collected against the said bank for the year 1915.

Sec. 2. That this act shall take effect and be in force from and after its passage.

CHAPTER 95.

SENATE BILL No. 289.

AN ACT to pay Lon W. Lowe the sum of $250.00 for the capture and delivery of Moomus Lampus, alias, Andrew Lambert, to Dan G. Taylor, sheriff of Monroe county.

To pay Lon W. Lowe for capture of a convict.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the Legislature of the State of Mississippi, That Lon W. Lowe be paid the sum of $50.00 not otherwise appropriated for the capture and delivery of Moomus Lampus, alias, Andrew Lampus, to Dan. G. Taylor, sheriff of Monroe county. The said Moomus Lampus, alias, Andrew Lambert, having been convicted of the crime of attempt to rape by the circuit court of Lee county, and having been placed in the Monroe county jail for safe keeping until he could be transported to the state penitentiary, and the said Moomus Lampus, alias,

Andrew Lambert, having escaped from the Monroe county jail and having been captured in Monroe county, by the said Lon W. Lowe on or about the 15th day of December, 1916, and, as aforesaid, having been delivered to the said Dan G. Taylor, and by him delivered to the penitentiary authorities, where he is now confined.

Sec. 2. That this act take effect and be in force from and after its passage.

CHAPTER 96.

HOUSE BILL No. 584.

AN ACT to appropriate four hundred dollars ($400.00) or so much thereof as may be necessary, to discharge the obligations and indebtedness incurred or to be incurred in the maintenance and expenses of caring for the old Confederate soldiers at the Confederate veterans' hospital annex, at Vicksburg, Mississippi, for the months of January, February and March 1918.

To aid confederate veterans hospital annex at Vicksburg.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the Legislature of the State of Mississippi, That the sum of four hundred dollars ($400.00) or so much thereof as may be necessary, is hereby appropriated out of any money in the state treasury not otherwise appropriated, to pay off and discharge all debts and obligations incurred or to be incurred for the maintenance and care of the old Confederate soldiers during the months of January, February and March, 1918, at the Confederate Veterans Hospital Annex, at Vicksburg, Mississippi. Provided that any portion of this appropriation not used for the purpose above, may be used, so far as needed, for the transportation of such veterans to Beauvoir.

Sec. 2. That this act take effect and be in force from and after its passage.
