30 1 total amount of $10,000,000: Provided, That the Secretary 2 3 of the Air Force or his designee, shall notify the Committees on Armed Services of the Senate and House of Representa 4 tives, immediately upon reaching a final decision to imple 5 ment, of the cost of construction of any public work under6 taken under this section, including those real estate actions 7 pertaining thereto. This authorization will expire as of Sep8 tember 30, 1971, except for those public works projects con9 cerning which the Committees on Armed Services of the 10 Senate and House of Representatives have been notified pursuant to this section prior to that date. 11 12 23 SEC. 304. (a) Public Law 89-188, as amended, is 13 amended under the heading "INSIDE THE UNITED STATES" 14 in section 301 as follows: 15 (1) With respect to Andrews Air Force Base, Camp 16 Springs, Maryland, strike out "$2,923,000" and insert in 17 place thereof "$3,081,000." 18 (b) Public Law 89-188, as amended, is amended by 19 striking out in clause (3) of section 602 "$216,360,000" 20 and "$340,106,000" and inserting in place thereof "$216.21 518,000" and "$340,264,000", respectively. 22 SEC. 305. The Secretary of Defense may establish or develop military installations and facilities by acquiring, constructing, converting, rehabilitating, or installing permanent or temporary public works, including land acquisition, site preparation, appurtenances, utilities and equipment, for defense agencies for the following acquisition and construction: Enid ( Defense Depot, Ogden, Utah, $98,000. SEC. 402. The Secretary of Defense may establish or 15 develop installations and facilities which he determines to be 16 vital to the security of the United States, and in connection 17 therewith to acquire, construct, convert, rehabilitate, or in18 stall permanent or temporary public works, including land 19 acquisition, site preparation, appurtenances, utilities and 20 equipment in the total amount of $35,000,000: Provided, 21 That the Secretary of Defense, or his designee, shall notify 22 the Committees on Armed Services of the Senate and House 23 of Representatives, immediately upon reaching a final deci24 sion to implement, of the cost of construction of any public 25 work undertaken under this section, including real estate 26 actions pertaining thereto. 33 18 1 TITLE V-MILITARY FAMILY HOUSING 2 SEC. 501. The Secretary of Defense, or his designee, is 3 authorized to construct, at the locations hereinafter named, 4 family housing units and trailer court facilities in the numbers 5 hereinafter listed, but no family housing construction shall be 6 commenced at any such locations in the United States, until 7 8 9 10 12 13 15 the Secretary shall have consulted with the Secretary, De partment of Housing and Urban Development, as to the availability of adequate private housing at such locations. If agreement cannot be reached with respect to the availability of adequate private housing at any location, the Secretary of Defense shall immediately notify the Committees on Armed Services of the House of Representatives and the Senate, in writing, of such difference of opinion, and no con tract for construction at such location shall be entered into 16 for a period of thirty days after such notification has been 17 given.
