The last previous edition of this directory was issued in 1917 as No. 61 in the Miscellaneous Series. This publication does not, by any means, contain the names of all commercial and industrial organizations in the United States, although it is believed to be fairly complete with regard to the active State and national associations. Only those organizations which made reply to the Bureau's request for information have been included. All data given is for 1919. Population figures are from the latest Census Bureau reports. The Post Office Department, through the postmasters of the country, gave very valuable assistance in the compilation of this directory by furnishing the names of organizations in their respective communities.
