This is in fact the second volume in two parts published in 1711, with new title-pages, and a Supplement containing 32 pages; these two parts, with the date 1714, frequently occur with the preceding edition of 1714, and form four volumes.

THE BRITISH COMPENDIUM: or a particular Account of all the present Nobility, both Spiritual and Temporal, from his Majesty to the

forms a Supplement to all those editions, and this volume frequently has the Supplement of 32 pages published with the edition of 1714, bound up with it.

* This was the first work which treated generally of the Peerage of Scotland, the preface to which contains some observations upon various Historical and Genealogical Tracts and Collections, then existing, relating to the Nobility of Scotland.

The first edition of this work, which was subsequently extended to Scotland and Ireland, and continued to be published at intervals, for many years, under the editorship of Francis Nichols, who was employed by the Booksellers.
