FEAR.

f Thou shalt fear the Lord thy God.

Let all the Earth fear the Lord; let all the Inhabitants of the World ftand in Awe of him: The Lord reigneth, let all the People tremble.

h Shall not his Excellency make you afraid, and, his Dread fall upon you? Fear ye not me? (faith the Lord) Will ye not tremble at my Prefence?

i Who would not fear thee, O King of Nations? For to thee doth it appertain to do Evil, and to do Good.

* Say unto God, how terrible art thou in thy Works? Thou, even thou art to be feared; and who may ftand in thy Sight when once thou art angry? While I fuffer thy Terrors, I am distracted: At thy Wrath the Earth fhall tremble, and the Nations fhall not be able to abide thy Indignation.

1 The Fear of the Lord is the Beginning of Wisdom; for by the Fear of the Lord Men depart from Evil.

m A wife Man feareth and departeth from Evil; but a Fool rageth and is confident.

n Stand in Awe then and fin not. Serve God acceptably, with godly Fear; and work out your own Salvation with Fear and Trembling.

n Pfal. 4. 4.

Heb. 12.

• Serve the Lord with Fear, and let your Heart ftand in Awe of his Word. For whofo defpifeth the Word, fhall be destroyed; but he that feareth the Commandment, fhall be rewarded.

▸ Wait for the Lord in the Way of his Judgments; for when his Judgments are in the Earth, the Inhabitants of the World will learn Righteoufnefs.

Happy is the Man that feareth alway; but he that hardeneth his Heart fhall fall into Mifchief

As for the Wicked, there is no Fear of God before their Eyes. Because they have no Changes, therefore they fear not God.

s Ye fhall not fear other Gods.

Learn not the Way of the Heathen, and be not difmayed at the Signs of Heaven; for the Cuftoms of the People are vain.

"Fear ye not the Reproach of Men, neither be ye afraid of their Revilings. Be ye not afraid of them, nor of their Words; nor be difmayed at their Looks. I, even I am he, (faith the Lord) that comforteth you. Who art thou that thou fhouldft be afraid of a Man that fhall die, and of the Son of Man who fhall be made as Grafs, and forgetteft the Lord thy Maker?

w Be not afraid of them that kill the Body, and after that have no more that they can do, being not able to kill the Soul; but rather fear him,

which after he hath killed hath Power to caft both Soul and Body into Hell.

* The Fear of Man bringeth a Snare.

LOVE.

y Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy Heart, and with all thy Understanding, with all thy Soul, and with all thy Mind, and with all thy Strength. This is the first and great Commandment.

If any Man love not the Lord Jefus Chrift, let him be Anathema, Maranatha.

a Grieve not the Holy Spirit of God, whereby ye are fealed unto the Day of Redemption.

b Set your Heart and your Soul to seek the Lord your God. Delight yourselves in the Lord; and cleave unto him; and choofe the Things that please him.

O love the Lord all ye his Saints; and take Delight in approaching to God. Let the Defire of your Souls be to his Name, and to the Remembrance of him; and efteem the Words of his Mouth more than your neceffary Food.

Set your Affections on Things above; and lay up for yourselves Treasures in Heaven; for where your Treafure is, there will your Heart be alfo.

• Let your Converfation be in Heaven, from whence alfo we look for the Saviour, the Lord Jefus Chrift.

f Be ye Followers of God, as dear Children; and walk in Love, as Christ also hath loved us. This is the Love of God, that we keep his Commandments.

h If a Man love Jefus Chrift, he will keep his Words. He that loveth him not, keepeth not his Sayings.

i Ye that love the Lord, hate Evil.

Thy Word, O Lord, is very pure; therefore thy Servant loveth it.

I love thy Commandments above Gold. Thy Judgments are more to be defired than fine Gold: They are fweeter alfo than Honey and the Honeycomb.

m Set not your Affections on Things on the Earth.

n Love not the World, neither the Things which are in the World. For all that is in the World, the Luft of the Flefh, the Luft of the Eyes, and the Pride of Life, is not of the Father; but is of the World. And the World paffeth away, and the Luft thereof. If any Man love the World, the Love of the Father is not in him." And whofoever will be a Friend of the World, is the Enemy of God: For the Friendship of the World is Enmity with God.

• What Things are Gain to us, those are to be counted Lofs for Chrift. And we are to leave all, and to follow him.

P He that loveth Father or Mother more than me, (faith our Saviour) is not worthy of me; and he that loveth Son or Daughter more than me, is not worthy of me.

We love God, because he first loved us. Is not he our Father and our Redeemer, that hath bought us? Hath not he made us, and established us?

There is no Fear in Love; but perfect Love cafteth out Fear; becaufe Fear hath Torment: He that feareth is not made perfect in Love.

The Lord direct our Hearts into the Love of God. Grace be with all them that love our Lord Jefus Chrift in Sincerity.

OBEDIENCE.

Thou fhalt love the Lord thy God, and keep his Charge, and his Statutes, and his Judgments, and his Commandments, alway.

Thou shalt diligently hearken to the Voice of the Lord thy God, and do that which is right in his Sight, and serve him in Truth with all thy Heart.

w You shall walk in all the Ways which the Lord your God hath commanded you: You fhall not turn aside to the Right-hand or to the Left.
