"time of trouble,” this “ day of vengeance," reprefented in Scripture as a day of unequalled terror and defolation, may the antient people of God be delivered from captivity, and be restored to the inheritance of their fathers.

Whoever reflects upon the well-attefted facts which mark the courfe of this gigantic Tyrant, will readily picture to himself a fcene of unexampled horrors. Lord all ye meek of the earth, which have wrought his judgment, seek righteousness, feek meeknefs: it may be ye fhall be hid in the day of the Lord's anger." "Then they that feared the Lord, fpake one to another; and the Lord hearkened, and heard it; and a book of remembrance was written before him, for them that feared the Lord, and that thought upon his name. And they shall be mine, faith the Lord of Hofts, in that day when I make up my jewels; and I will spare them as a man fpareth his own fon that ferveth him. Then fhall ye return, and, difcern between the righteous and the wicked; between him that ferveth God, and him that ferveth him not. For behold, the day cometh, that fhall burn as an oven, and all the proud, yea and all that do wickedly, fhall be stubble. And the day that cometh shall burn them up, faith the Lord of Hofts, that it shall leave them neither root nor branch","
