PROOFS UPON INDIA PAPER, WITH NUMEROUS DUPLICATES in various stages of Engraving, some of which were afterwards altered; and a Privately Printed Statement, respecting the Prices he charged for the Sketches and Drawings for this Work, which was afterwards suppressed.

3 VOLS., ENLARGED TO 6 VERY THICK VOLS., IMPERIAL 8vo., LARGE PAPER. Most splendidly bound in olive morocco super-extra, the backs richly gilt, and very broad rich borders of gold on the sides, tooled insides and joints, vellum linings and flyleaves, gilt edges, by CHARLES LEWIS, in his best style.

This is decidedly the most splendid and magnificent copy in existence. Besides the immense number of Plates which belong to this work in their various states, it is farther illustrated with a splendid assemblage of Original Drawings and Tracings, Private Plates, Etchings, Portraits, Views, Antiquities, &c., &c.

There are other of Dibdin's works in the collection fine enough to place beside the beautiful "Tour," as the following:

DIBDIN'S REMINISCENCES OF A LITERARY LIFE, with Anecdotes of Books and Book Collectors, with the Index, 2 vols. impl. 8vo. LARGE PAPER, with proof impressions of the portraits and plates, fine copy, russia extra, with borders of gold, and joints, uncut, VERY SCARCE.

Very few copies of this interesting work were printed on large paper. This was the late Miss Currer's subscription copy, who has illustrated it with several additional private plates and portraits, two long and interesting autograph letters to her from the author, and various printed particulars relating to him and his works. A subsequent owner has added a very long and interesting letter from Dr. Dibdin to Sir Mark Sykes, announcing the results of the first day's sale of the Roxburghe Library.

There are beautiful copies of the Decameron, Typographical Antiquities, and the Bibliomania.

DANTE. Translated by Longfellow. One of three copies printed on India paper for three gentlemen of Chicago, at a cost of $1,000.

The Library is by no means wanting in choice works of the Drama-for instance : ANNALS OF THE ENGLISH STAGE from Thomas Betterton to Edmund Kean. Actors-Authors-Audiences. By Dr. Doran, F.S A. The two vols., large paper, extended to five royal 8vo. vols., by numerous inserted plates. Half polished levant morocco extra, gilt top.

This unique copy contains some six hundred portrait and character illustrations, extending from the days of Betterton to Charles Matthews. No English actor or actress of celebrity is omitted from this collection, and of the most celebrated there are various portraits and representations in their best parts on the stage. Many of the impressions of the plates are choice proofs, and all, at the present day, are difficult to be procured. The preparation of the work in London, with the best facilities and opportunities of an experienced collector, occuped the leisure hours of over two years. The limited number of good impressions capable of being struck off from a copper-plate engraving-the only means in use when most of these designs were made-render the present work of unusual rarity and value.

COLLIER, JOHN PAYNE.-A Bibliographical and Critical Account_of_the_Rarest Books in the English Language, etc. 4 vols, 8vo, uncut. One of two copies printed on India Paper, BACON, LORD.—Works in 15 volumes. One of five copies printed on India Paper. DUYCKINCK'S CYCLOPEDIA of American Literature. Royal 4to, uncut. Large paper, only 100 copies printed. 297 portraits, views and autographs inserted. Also copy of the New York Mirror, printed by Hugh Gaine. Water Color View of residence of G. C. Verplanck, and Water Color Portrait of T. R. Beck. Perhaps the most interesting feature is the number of autograph letters written by the subjects of the articles.

CLARKE. REPERTORIUM BIBLIOGRAPHICUM. Large Paper. Folio. CICERO. CATO MAJOR, translated by Logan. Printed by Benjamin Franklin. A beautiful copy of the chef d'œuvre of the great printer, uncut, in original binding, being one of the copies which he took to England, intending it for presentation. DEALER IN

PAMPHLETS,

OFFERS HIS SERVICES TO

Public Libraries

AND

PRIVATE COLLECTORS.

The BIBLIOPOLIST having now introduced Mr. W. to the public, he will address you himself. Hear him :

I am not a Bookseller, have no store, nor any very considerable stock on hand, but having for several years made the buying and selling of Pamphlets a specialty, feel confident that my facilities for furnishing anything which may be wanted in that line are, as Captain Cuttle says, "Ekald by few, and excelled by none."

FOR 12 CENTS EACH

I will send to any address a collection of 100, 200, or 300 Pamphlets relating to Slavery and the Slavery War. Of these I will keep a list, to avoid sending duplicates, and, if desired, will, from time to time, as often as able, add a hundred to the collection at the same price.

GENTLEMEN DESIROUS OF FORMING A COLLECTION On this important and interesting subject, cannot do better than avail themselves of this offer. By this means any one may in as short a time perhaps as it could be accomplished in any other way, at a cost of a few hundreds, form a collection numbering nearly as many thousands; and all without any trouble to himself.
