The Board of Home Missions herewith respectfully submits to the General Assembly the One Hundred and First Annual Report of its work: Before beginning the review of the year it may not be improper to briefly set forth how the Board carries on in the offices the work committed to it by the Church. The Board consists of twenty-one members, eleven ministers and ten laymen, most of whom must needs live in New York or its vicinity, not only to attend the monthly and special meetings of the Board, but also the frequent meetings of some of the committees. The Committees of the Board are THE APPLICATION COMMITTEE, meeting monthly to pass upon the applications from the churches seeking aid. There are about seventeen hundred churches under the care of about thirteen hundred and fifty ministers. These applications are considered one by one. They have previously been considered by the officers of the Board, who, by study and correspondence, are in a position to furnish detailed information to the Committee in regard to every case. THE SCHOOL COMMITTEE, having under its care and supervision the entire work of the Woman's Board. Last year nearly one-third of a million of dollars was spent by the Woman's Board in the payment of 491 missionaries and teachers, in the support of 159 missions, schools and academies; five dispensaries and one hospital; six physicians, and in the maintenance and repair of school and other property in value of about $901,000. THE FINANCE COMMITTEE, responsible for all the financial affairs of the Board, especially the investment of the Permanent Trust and Annuity Funds, which now amount approximately to $600,000.
