Preface The United States Coast Pilot is published by the National Ocean Service (NOS), Office of Coast Survey, National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), pursuant to the Act of 6 August 1947 (33 U.S.C. 883a and b) and the Act of 22 October 1968 (44 U.S.C. 1310). The Coast Pilot supplements the navigational information shown on the nautical charts. The sources for updating the Coast Pilot include but are not limited to field inspections conducted by NOAA, information published in Notices to Mariners, reports from NOAA Hydrographic vessels and field parties, information from other Government agencies, State and local governments, maritime and pilotage associations, port authorities, and mariners. This volume of Coast Pilot 6, Great Lakes: Lakes Ontario, Erie, Huron, Michigan, and Superior and St. Lawrence River, cancels the 1995 (25th) Edition. Notice.-Amendments are issued to this publication through U.S. Coast Guard Local Notices to Mariners. A subscription to the Local Notice to Mariners is available upon application to the appropriate Coast Guard District Commander (Aids to Navigation Branch). Consult appendix for address.
