1 The Honorable Robert F. Kennedy, of Massachusetts, was nominated to be Attorney General by President Kennedy on January 20, 1961; the nomination was confirmed by the Senate on January 21, 1961, and he was commissioned and took the oath of office on the same day. He was presented to the Court on February 20, 1961. (See post, p. VII.) He succeeded The Honorable William P. Rogers, who resigned effective January 20, 1961.

2 The Honorable Archibald Cox, of Massachusetts, was nominated by President Kennedy to be Solicitor General on January 21, '1961; the nomination was confirmed by the Senate on January 23, 1961, and he was commissioned and took the oath of office on January 24, 1961. He was presented to the Court on February 20, 1961. (See post, p. VII.) He succeeded The Honorable J. Lee Rankin, who resigned effective January 23, 1961.

ALLOTMENT OF JUSTICES.

It is ordered that the following allotment be made of the Chief Justice and Associate Justices of this Court among the circuits, pursuant to Title 28, United States Code, Section 42, and that such allotment be entered of record, viz:
