OUTSIDE WITNESSES MEMBERS OF CONGRESS WITNESSES HON. BOBBI FIEDLER, A REPRESENTATIVE IN THE CONGRESS FROM THE STATE OF CALIFORNIA HON. NORMAN D. SHUMWAY, A REPRESENTATIVE IN THE CONGRESS FROM THE STATE OF CALIFORNIA HON. ROBERT LAGOMARSINO, A REPRESENTATIVE IN THE CONGRESS FROM THE STATE OF CALIFORNIA Mr. BEVILL. The committee will come to order. We are pleased to have our colleagues here with us this morning: Congresswoman Fiedler, Congressman Shumway and Congressman Lagomarsino. We realize you gentlemen and the lady have to get back to your committees, so, whoever wants to start we will be glad to hear from you. Ms. FIEDLER. I will be very brief. You might recall last year we brought two pictures because we thought that they really explained our problem with Hansen Dam. Here it is as it is today. Here is the way it used to be, and we hope you can restore it to this particular status. The President has included in this budget $250,000 for a study to remove the silt, which has accumulated in the dam. That study is underway. We appreciate the support of the committee last year and that we did receive some money to start the funding. This year I am just going to ask you to please make certain that the funds that were put in by the President, $250,000 are retained in order for us to go forward with the study and restore the original nature of this dam. Mr. BEVILL. Nobody can argue with that picture, can they? Ms. FIEDLER. And I have submitted more complete testimony. Mr. BEVILL. We will take your full statement and make it a part of the record. Ms. FIEDLER. Thank you very much. Mr. BEVILL. It is mighty good to see you and have you with us. [The statement of Ms. Fiedler follows:] (1) |
