The subcommittee met at 10 a.m., pursuant to notice, in room 214–B, Longworth House Office Building, Washington, D.C., Hon. Ken Hechler, chairman, presiding. Mr. HECHLER. The committee will be in order. The Subcommittee on Advanced Research and Technology is here to consider the total requests of $740,601,000, of which $246,200,000 is concerned with tracking and data acquisition, $277,700,000 with advanced research and technology, $5 million for technology utilization, $34,678,000 for construction of facilities, and $177,023,000 for administrative operations. We open our hearings today with consideration of NASA request for tracking and data acquisition of $246,200,000. The Honorable J. Edward Roush of Indiana will preside over this portion of the hearings. Mr. Roush. Mr. Roush. Thank you, Mr. Chairman. We have Mr. Buckley with us this morning. Mr. Buckley, we are happy to have you here. I understand you have Mr. Truszynski with you again. Mr. Buckley, we realize that time is limited, and your statement is lengthy. Are you prepared to give us a condensed version, or modified version of this statement, and then receive questions from the committee? Mr. BUCKLEY. Yes, Mr. Chairman. In addition to Mr. Truszynski, who is the Deputy Director of my office, I have here this morning Mr. Thomas W. Lucas, Director of Program Coordination and Resources Management. Mr. Roush. Mr. Lucas, we are glad to have you with us.
