For publishing the laws, printing the schedules, the annual report of the commissioner of public schools, annual report of the insurance commissioner, of the registration of births, marriages and deaths, all printing ordered by the general assembly, and such other printing and all binding as may be required in the office of the secretary of state and other public offices, fifteen thousand dollars.

FOR MILITARY AFFAIRS.

For militia and military affairs, twenty-four thousand dollars.

FOR COURT HOUSES AND JAILS.

For repairs of the following public buildings, court houses and jails, and for furniture and fixtures for the

same:

State house, court house and other state offices in Providence county, eighteen hundred dollars.

State house and jail in Newport county, four hundred dollars.

Court houses, jail and record office in Washington county, two hundred dollars.

Court house and jail in Kent county, two hundred and fifty dollars.

Court house and jail in Bristol county, two hundred dollars.

FOR JAILS AND JAILERS.

For jailers' fees and for board of persons confined in jail, except in Providence county, two thousand dollars.

For fuel and gas for the several court houses and the public offices, to be certified by the sheriffs of the several counties, three thousand dollars.

For purchase and binding of books and documents, two hundred and fifty dollars.

For the payment of the orders of the governor, three thousand dollars.

For two persons to take charge of the state house at Providence, and the offices therein, fifteen hundred dollars.

For a person to take charge of the state house at Newport, four hundred dollars.

For care of the Providence county court house, four thousand dollars.

For a person to act as watchman of the public offices in the Elizabeth building, three hundred and fifty dollars.

FOR BOARD OF STATE CHARITIES AND CORRECTIONS.

One hundred and forty thousand dollars in addition to the moneys received by them, which shall have been paid into the treasury, as provided in section 18, chapter 27 of the Public Statutes, which moneys are hereby appropriated for their use, excepting so much thereof as may be received for fines and costs.

For the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children, one thousand dollars.

For the Prisoners Aid Association, five hundred dollars.

For the State Board of Agriculture, six hundred dollars, to be paid on orders certified by the Governor.

FOR MISCELLANEOUS EXPENSES.

For miscellaneous expenses, and other expenses not provided for by this act, seven thousand dollars.

For accounts allowed by the general assembly, seven thousand dollars.

For care of Soldiers and Sailors Monument, in Providence, fifty dollars.

FOR PAYMENT OF MEDICAL EXAMINERS AND CORONERS.

Twenty-five hundred dollars.

1886.
LAWS, PASSED AT THE JANUARY SESSION, A. D. 1885, EN-
TITLED "AN ACT FOR THE RELIEF OF DISABLED AND
NEEDY SOLDIERS AND SAILORS OF THE LATE WAR, AND
THE NEEDY WIDOWS AND CHILDREN OF DECEASED SOL-
DIERS AND SAILORS."

It is enacted by the General Assembly as follows :

SECTION 1.

Section 8 of chapter 488 is hereby amended so as to read as follows:

"SECTION 8. The sum of ten thousand dollars, or so much thereof as may be necessary, is hereby appropriated annually for the purposes set forth in chapter 488 of the Public Laws, and the state auditor is hereby directed to draw his order from time to time on the general treasurer for such portion or portions of said sum as may be called for, upon vouchers drawn by the secretary of the commission and countersigned by its chairman."

SEC. 2. This act shall take effect from and after its passage.

CHAPTER 545.

AN ACT IN AMENDMENT OF CHAPTER 222 OF THE PUBLIC Passed March 2, STATUTES, "OF EXECUTIONS."

It is enacted by the General Assembly as follows:

SECTION 1. Whenever the court in which an original writ is returnable shall release the defendant therein from arrest and discharge the bail, if any taken thereon, under the provisions of chapter 206, section 9, of the Public Statutes, the execution in such actions shall not issue against the body of the defendant so released, but against his goods, chattels and real estate.

SEC. 2. All acts and parts of acts inconsistent herewith are repealed.

SEC. 3. This act shall take effect from and after its passage.

CHAPTER 546.

AN ACT TO VALIDATE AND CONFIRM THE CANVASSING AND Passed March 3, 1886. MAKING UP OF THE VOTING LIST OF THE TOWN OF NORTH PROVIDENCE.

It is enacted by the General Assembly as follows:

SECTION 1. The canvassing and making up of the Nor voting list of the town of North Providence by the dence validated. board of canvassers of said town, made on the thirtieth day of January, A. D. 1886, is ratified and confirmed and is hereby declared to be as valid and effectual as if said list had been canvassed and made up on the last Monday in said January.

SEC. 2. This act shall take effect immediately upon its passage.
