"Mr. Boyes has collected these illustrations more for the purpose of determining the heads of thought by a comparison of minds, than for the detection of plagiarism. His work will amuse those whose days of study are gone by, but who love to review their classic recollections, and to recall those images of sublimity and beauty which had delighted their young hearts and charmed their youthful

fancy. To use the language of Cicero, he has rendered those studies which nurtured boyhood delightful to age.' ATHENEUM.

"This is one of the most pleasing classical works that we have lately read. The author shows very extensive poetical reading, a quick perception, accurate memory, and well formed taste."—GENTLEMAN'S MAGAZINE.

DR. ROBINSON'S GREEK LEXICON TO THE NEW TESTAMENT, Condensed, for Schools and Students, with a Parsing Index, containing the Words which occur and showing their derivations. 12mo. 573 pages, 7s. 6d. cloth,

This Lexicon will be found to be the fullest and most comprehensive Lexicon to the Greek Testament which has yet been published, at a moderate price. It is condensed from Dr. Robinson's large work, but on comparison it will be found that nothing really essential has been omitted.

For the sake of the many private students who, not having had the benefit of a regular classical education, are pursuing their studies under great disadvantages, a Parsing Index is appended, which gives the forms of all the words as they occur in the Testament, with a reference to the word from which they are derived.

"Making use of the well-directed labour and well-earned fame of Dr. Robinson's 'Lexicon,' an English editor prepares this condensed work for the use of schools and students. Utility is the main object aimed at, so far as the young scholar is concerned, and therefore those parts of the original work are most fully given which are most

essential to those who are only learners. Thus the inflections of all verbs, in any degree irregular, appear in their order; and in an appendix a copious parsing index is given. For those who have only slight knowledge of the Greek language, no lexicon will be found more use than Robinson's Lexicon Condensed.'"-LIT. Gaz. Nov. 22, 1851.

LATIN-ENGLISH LEXICON.

FOUNDED ON THE LARGER GERMAN-LATIN LEXICON OF DR. WILLIAM FREUND:
WITH ADDITIONS AND CORRECTIONS

From the LEXICONS of GESNER, FACCIOLATI, SCHELLER, GEORGES, &c.
By E. A. ANDREWS, LL.D., &c.

The basis of the new Latin Lexicon here offered to the public consists of a translation of the Wörterbuch der Lateinischen Sprache of Dr. Wilhelm Freund, which was published at Leipsic in four volumes, containing in all about 4500 pages. The Lexicons of Gesner, Facciolati, Scheller, and Georges, have likewise been made use of for the purpose of supplying occasional deficiencies in those of Dr. Freund.

The object which the Editor has proposed to himself and his associates in the preparation of the work has been to condense these materials within the convenient limits of a single volume, and yet to preserve everything of real importance for general use in the larger Lexicon of Dr. Freund.

"Rarely, if ever, has so vast an amount of philological information been comprised in a single volume of this size. The knowledge which it conveys of the early and later Latin is not to be gathered from ordinary Latin Dictionaries.-Every page bears the impress of industry and care. The type is clear, neat, and judiciously varied."-ATHENEUM.

"We have examined this book with considerable attention, and have no hesitation in saying it is the best Dictionary of the Latin Language that has appeared."-LITERARY Gazette.
