THE Copyright Amendment Acts, giving full effect to the provisions of the late convention with France, regarding the clauses relative to translations, passed the House of Commons on Monday night. Shortly will be published, "The International Copyright Law between England and France, Analysed and Explained, with the Convention and recent Statutes on the subject in full," by Peter Burke, Esq. of the Inner Temple, Barrister-at-Law (in French and English).

Messrs. Longman and Co. announce for publication next month a "Biography of the Rev. W. Kirby," the well-known Entomologist, and author of one of the Bridgewater Treatises. Its value to the lovers of natural history will be enhanced by a sketch from the pen of Mr. Spence of their forty-five years' friendship, and the origin and progress of their united work, "Introduction to Entomology."-Dr. Roget, another of the Bridgewater Treatises' authors, has been some time engaged in the classifying and arranging a Thesaurus of English Words and Phrases with the view of facilitating the expression of ideas and aiding literary composition.-Dr. L. Schmitz is editing a complete edition of Niebuhr's Lectures on Ancient History: it will comprehend all the nations of antiquity except the Roman, and form 3 volumes, 8vo. In treating of the Asiatic empires and Egypt, the Professor appears long to have anticipated the recently splendid discoveries of Dr. Layard. The New Edition of Dr. Andrews's "Latin and English Lexicon," reprinted in this country, will be ready for delivery on the 15th.

Messrs. Seeleys have been some time making arrangements for the publication of a Standard Series of the Original Church Histories of England, and the prospectus thereof is now ready: the plan of publication is similar to that pursued with so much success by the Parker and other Societies, and promises to subscribers a delivery of three half-volumes of 400 pages each, per annum, for five or six years, for an annual subscription of twenty shillings. This will comprehend the completion of the "Church Historian, from Bede to Foxe," and form a valuable antecedent to their standard edition of "The Acts and Monuments" completed in 1848, in 8 volumes; and together, under the editorship of the Rev. John Stevenson, the two scries will combine every thing that can be known of the Church of England from Saxon times, down to the time of Archbishop Parker and the settlement of the Church on its present basis. A record of some of the earliest travels of Madame Pfeiffer is just published, comprehending her "Journey to Iceland, and Travels through Sweden and Norway." This adventurous lady is now in Borneo; and, by the last accounts from Singapore, had started on an ascent of the river Pontianak, previous to a visit of the Dutch settlements.

The account of the inauguration of the fund for raising a monument to the memory of the late J. F. Cooper, Esq. evidences the unanimity of feeling with American authors. Amongst the names of those present occurs-Webster, Bryant, Irving, Bancroft, Bethune, Prescott, Longfellow, Hawthorne, Dante, and our own countrymau G. P. R. James-an array of literary names of which any country may be proud.-Miss Warner, the author of the Wide Wide World, has made arrangements for the publication of a new work simultaneous with its appearance in New York; it is entitled Queechy, or Home Life in the New World."

A Memoir of the late Rev. Dr. Pye Smith is in preparation: also the publication nearly ready of the course of lectures on Christian Theology, prepared by that divine for the students in Homerton College; they have undergone revision, and will be edited by the Rev.
