1 THE HONORABLE HARRY A. BLACKMUN, of Minnesota, formerly a Judge of the United States Court of Appeals for the Eighth Circuit, was nominated by President Nixon to be an Associate Justice of this Court on April 15, 1970; the nomination was confirmed by the Senate on May 12, 1970; he was commissioned on May 14, 1970; and he took the oath and his seat on June 9, 1970. See post, p. XI.
