The photograph is a sample of the means by which, in connection with the carrier pigeons, Paris was kept informed of outside news, after the capital was surrounded by the German forces. The photograph, of the thinnest gelatine film, and only one and a quarter by two inches in size, reproduces eight newspaper pages so that they can be read by a microscope.
