ADEQUATE : 0

SUBSTANDARD: 4,455 SF PROJECT: A new maintenance shop to provide organizational maintenance for the vehicles and equipment supported by this maintenance shop. REQUIREMENT: A facility requirement for 8,605 SF is requested to permit maintenance at organizational level to be performed on vehicles authorized by TOE/TDA at the supported units.

CURRENT SITUATION: The existing shop contains 4,455 SF. Constructed in 1949 as a motor vehicle storage building. This facility is inadequate in the following areas: administrative, rest room, locker room, supply room. Administrative area has only 143 SF; NGR 415-10 authorizes 300 SF. Parts storage has only 360 SF; NGR 415-10 authorizes 700 SF. Latrine area has only 55 SF; NGR 415-10 authorizes 230 SF. The shop does not have a system to control waste water from the cleaning of equipment and vehicles. Heatng, lighting and ventilation are inadequate in the existing facility. Heating is provided by space heaters in all areas except work bays. The electrical wiring was installed in 1949 and has been added to periodically. The wiring will not meet the requirements of the National Electrical Code. The plumbing was installed using galvanized lines which require much maintenance. In addition water and compressed air was not provided to the work bays. Existing facilities will be disposed of in accordance with state law, after new shop has been occupied.
