owns a bulkhead slip on the main water front of Norfolk, just west of the foot of Commerce Street.

The Seaboard Air Line Railway terminal is on the left bank of the Southern Branch of Elizabeth River, Portsmouth, adjacent to the Norfolk County Ferry racks. It has a water frontage of about 3,700 feet, of which about 2,700 feet is developed, and occupies an area of about 189 acres with about 31 miles of tracks. An open pier with a car-ferry transfer bridge, four covered piers, and a wharf comprise the terminal. The aggregate under-cover area available is 255,000 square feet. Berthing space of approximately 3,000 linear feet at a depth of 22 feet is provided. This carrier also operates a wharf on the main water front of Norfolk at the foot of Matthew Street.

The Atlantic Coast Line Railroad terminal is situated on the left bank of Elizabeth River, at Pinners Point, adjoining and east of the Southern Railway terminal. It has a water frontage of about 1,800 feet and an area of about 138 acres. The terminal consists of three freight piers, with transit sheds having an aggregate floor area of about 190,000 square feet, a passenger pier, two open piers, and a car-ferry transfer bridge. Berthing space of about 4,000 linear feet is available at a depth of 15 feet at mean low water. This company also operates a passenger terminal and a local freight wharf on the Norfolk water front, the former at the foot of York Street, and the latter at the foot of Matthew Street.

The Southern Railway terminal, situated on the left bank of Elizabeth River, at Pinners Point, has a water frontage of about 1,100 feet and occupies an area of about 136 acres. It comprises three covered freight piers, having an aggregate floor area of 485,000 square feet for transit and short-time storage purposes, a car-ferry transfer bridge, and about 22 miles of trackage. Berthing space of about 3,500 feet at depths ranging from 20 to 22 feet, and 1,650 feet at a depth of 30 feet, is available. The Southern Railway also operates a small wharf in the Norfolk main water front at the foot of Matthew and Jackson Streets.

The terminal of the New York, Philadelphia & Norfolk Railroad (Pennsylvania Railroad System) is located on the right bank of Western Branch of Elizabeth River at Port Norfolk, Va. It comprises a pier with steel-sheathed frame freight house, and a freight shed providing areas of 40,000 square feet and 12,400 square feet, respectively. Adjacent to the pier, on shore, is a freight house with floor area of 6,600 square feet and a freight shed with floor area of 13,000 square feet. The terminal also has four car-ferry transfer bridges and a car yard with 14 miles of track. Berthing space of 1,000 feet, at a depth of 18 feet, is available,
