1941. Maritime Commission: Construction fund in-

creased by $160,000,000, of which not to exceed $5,270,000

shall be available for administrative expenses. Further

contract authorization in amount not to exceed $180,000,-
000. For Marine Schools, $190,000. Total, Maritime
Commission: $160,190,000. Provides that salaries of
commissioners, with exception of chairman, shall be at rate
of $10,000 per annum.)

Suspension of 8-Hour Day Laws.

(Public Law No. 831, 76th Cong., 3d sess., approved October 10,

1940. Suspended provisions of law prohibiting more than 8

hours labor in any one day of persons engaged upon work

covered by Maritime Commission contracts for the construc-

tion, alteration, or repair of vessels, and authorized the Mari-

time Commission to modify its existing contracts accordingly.)
