His book, with its admirable illustrations, is far more entertaining aud "informing" than the majority of travellers' tales, and its sketches of the ways and manners of Orientals of many varieties are drawn and coloured with intelligence' MORNING POST.

We have read this volume with keen zest and pleasure. It is deeply interesting, and tells us much about countries little known; much, indeed, that has not been told before. The daring wheeler records his experiences and adventures with such simple, straightforward, and unaffected manliness, that it is not until the reader stops to think that he perceives the courage displayed, the extent of the undertaking, and the alarming nature of the dangers encountere 1.' KNIGHT-ERRANT. By EDNA LYALL.

"Knight-Errant" is marked by the author's best qualities as a writer of fiction, and displays on every page the grace and quiet power of her former works.'-ATHENÆUM.

The plot, and, indeed, the whole story, is gracefully fresh and very charming; there is a wide humanity in the book that cannot fail to accomplish its author's purpose.'-LITERARY WORLD.

This novel is distinctly helpful and inspiring from its high tone, its intense human feeling, and its elevated morality. It forms an additional proof, if such were needed, that Miss Lyall has a mandate to write.'-ACADEMY.

DONOVAN: a Modern Englishman. By EDNA LYALL.

This is a very admirable work The reader is from the first carriel away by the gallant unconventionality of its author. "Donovan" is a very excellent novel; but it is something more and better. It should do as much good as the best sermon ever written or delivered extempore. The story is told with a grand simplicity, an unconscious poetry of eloquence which stirs the very depths of the heart. One of the main excellences of this novel is the delicacy of touch with which the author shows her most delightful characters to be, after all, human beings, and not angels before their time.-STANDARD.

WE TWO. By EDNA LYALL.

This book is well written and full of interest. The story abounds with a good many light touches, and is certainly far from lacking in incident.'-TIMES.

"We Two" contains very many exciting passages and a great deal of information. Miss Lyall is a capable writer and a clear-headed thinker.'-ATHENEUM.

IN THE GOLDEN DAYS. By EDNA LYALL.

'Miss Lyall has given us a vigorous study of such life and character as are really worth reading about. The central figure of her story is Algernon Sydney; and this figure she invests with a singular dignity and power. He always appears with effect, but no liberties are taken with the facts of his life. The plot is adapted with great felicity to them. His part in it, absolutely consistent as it is with historical truth, gives it reality as well as dignity. Some of the scenes are remarkably vivid. The escape is an admirable narrative, which almost makes one hold one's breath as one reads.' SPECTATOR.

WON BY WAITING. By EDNA LYALL.

'The Dean's daughters are perfectly real characters-the learned Cornelia especially; the little impulsive French heroine, who endures their cold hospitality and at last wins their affection, is thoroughly charming; while throughout the book there runs a golden thread of pure brotherly and sisterly love, which pleasantly reminds us that the making and marring of marriage is not, after all, the sum total of real life.'-ACADEMY.

Each Work complete in 1 vol. price 5s. bound, and Illustrated by Sir JOHN GILBERT, Sir J. E. MILLAIS, HOLMAN HUNT, LEECH, BIRKET FOSTER, TENNIEL, SANDYS, J. LASLETT POTT, &c.
