AN ACT

For the relief of Fouad George Baroody.

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the Fouad G. Ba- United States of America in Congress assembled, That the Secretary of the Treasury is authorized and directed to pay, out of any money in the Treasury not otherwise appropriated, to Fouad George Baroody, of 105 Main Street, Timmonsville, South Carolina, the sum of $500. The payment of such sum shall be in full settlement of all claims of said Fouad George Baroody against the Government of the United States, in connection with the $500 departure bond posted by the said Fouad George Baroody, on behalf of himself on approximately May 22, 1950: Provided, That no part of the amount appropriated in this Act shall be paid or delivered to or received by any agent or attorney on account of services rendered in connection with this claim, and the same shall be unlawful, any contract to the contrary notwithstanding. Any person violating the provisions of this Act shall be deemed guilty of a misdemeanor and upon conviction thereof shall be fined in any sum not exceeding $1,000.

AN ACT

For the relief of Mrs. Lyman C. Murphey.

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the Mrs. Lyman C. United States of America in Congress assembled, That the Secretary of the Treasury is authorized and directed to pay, out of any money in the Treasury not otherwise appropriated, to Mrs. Lyman C. Murphey, Avondale Estates, Georgia, the widow of Lyman C. Murphey (Veterans' Administration claim numbered XC3862082), a sum equal to the amount which would have been paid to, or on behalf of, the two minor children of the said veteran for the period beginning January 25, 1945, and ending March 8, 1953, both dates inclusive, if a claim for pension, by or on behalf of such minor children, had been filed with the Administrator of Veterans' Affairs within one year after the death of the said Lyman C. Murphey, and had been allowed: Provided, That no part of the amount paid under this section in excess of 10 per centum thereof shall be paid or delivered to or received by any agent or attorney on account of services rendered in connection with this claim, and the same shall be unlawful, any contract to the contrary notwithstanding. Any person violating the provisions of this Act shall be deemed guilty of a misdemeanor and upon conviction thereof shall be fined in any sum not exceeding $1,000.

SEC. 2. The Administrator of Veterans' Affairs shall certify to the Secretary of the Treasury the sum which is to be paid to Mrs. Lyman C. Murphey under the first section of this Act.

AN ACT

For the relief of Harry Slatkin.

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America in Congress assembled, That the Secretary of the Treasury is authorized and directed to pay, out of any money in the Treasury not otherwise appropriated, to Harry Slatkin, 46 East Main Street, Paterson, New Jersey, the sum of $500. The payment of such sum shall be in full settlement of all claims of said Harry Slatkin against the United States, in connection with the $500 departure bond posted by the said Harry Slatkin, on behalf of Erno Kraus on January 3, 1949: Provided, That no part of the amount appropriated in this Act shall be paid or delivered to or received by any agent or attorney on account of services rendered in connection with this claim, and the same shall be unlawful, any contract to the contrary notwithstanding. Any person violating the provisions of this Act shall be deemed guilty of a misdemeanor and upon conviction thereof shall be fined in any sum not exceeding $1,000. Approved June 4, 1958.

AN ACT

For the relief of Dwight J. Brohard.

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America in Congress assembled, That Dwight J. Brohard, of Alameda, California, is relieved of all liability to pay to the United States the sum of $2,132.62 representing reimbursement of compensation paid him for work at Bureau of Federal Credit Unions of the Department of Health, Education, and Welfare, by the United States Government for the employment period of January 3, 1956, until October 6, 1956. In the audit and settlement of the accounts of any certifying or disbursing officer of the United States, full credit shall be given for any amount disbursed to Dwight J. Brohard for which relief from liability is accorded to him by this Act. Approved June 4, 1958.

For the relief of Edward L. Munroe.

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America in Congress assembled, That the Secretary of the Treasury be, and he is hereby, authorized and directed to pay, out of any money in the Treasury not otherwise appropriated, the sum of $335.60 to Edward L. Munroe, of Boston, Massachusetts, in full settlement of all claims against the United States. Such sum represents base and longevity pay for the period September 1 to 21, 1943, incident to his service as captain, О255625, United States Army: Provided, That no part of the amount appropriated in this Act shall

For the relief of Captain Laurence D. Talbot (retired).

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the Capt. Laurence United States of America in Congress assembled, That Captain Laurence D. Talbot (retired), of Alamo, Texas, be, and he is hereby, relieved of all liability to refund to the United States the sum of $1,072.50. Such sum represents overpayment of disability retirement for the period July 1, 1952, through December 31, 1955, received from the Retired Pay Division, Finance Center, United States Army, and the Veterans' Administration.

For the relief of Willie C. Williams.

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the Willie C. Wil United States of America in Congress assembled, That the Postmaster General be authorized and directed to pay to Mr. Willie C. Williams, 307 Perry Street, Marlin, Texas, the amount of $101.52. This sum represents the amount which Mr. Williams, who is a retired postal employee, earned while assisting in the post office at Marlin, Texas, during the Christmas rush during December 1956 at the request of the assistant postmaster who thought the employment of Mr. Williams was in accordance with laws and regulations: Provided, That no part of the amount appropriated in this Act shall be paid or delivered to or received by any agent or attorney on account of services rendered in connection with this claim, and the same shall be unlawful, any contract to the contrary notwithstanding. Any person violating the provisions of this Act shall be deemed guilty of a misdemeanor and upon conviction thereof shall be fined in any sum not exceeding $1,000. Approved June 4, 1958.

AN ACT

For the relief of John A. Tierney.

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America in Congress assembled, That John A. Tierney, of Bethesda, Maryland, a former employee of the Department of State, is hereby relieved of all liability to refund to the United States the sum of $1,116, representing payments of a per diem allowance in lieu of subsistence paid to him for the period from October 27, 1952, through February 28, 1953, in connection with service rendered to the Department of State as budget specialist in Washington, District of Columbia. In the audit and settlement of accounts of any certifying or disbursing officer of the United States, full credit shall be given for the amount for which liability is relieved by this Act.

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America in Congress assembled, That the Secretary of the Army is authorized and directed to convey to the George N. v.F.w. Meredith Post 924, Veterans of Foreign Wars of the United States, Anniston, Alabama, all right, title, and interest of the United States in and to the real property containing three and five-tenths acres, more or less, more particularly described in section 2, upon payment by such post to the United States of an amount equal to the fair market value of such real property as determined by the Secretary. Such amount shall be covered into the Treasury of the United States as miscellaneous receipts.

SEC. 2. The real property referred to in the first section of this Act is more particularly described as follows:

All that tract or parcel of land lying and being in the southeast quarter of the northwest quarter of section 29, township 15 south, range 8 east, Huntsville meridian, Calhoun County, Alabama, more particularly described as follows:

Beginning at a point which is on the boundary of the reservation of Fort McClellan and at boundary marker 59, at the southwest corner of said southeast quarter of the northwest quarter of section, thence north 00 degrees 38 minutes east along said boundary 430.0 feet, thence north 75 degrees east 185 feet more or less to the western right-of-way of a proposed State highway opposite center-line station 26 plus 00 of said highway, thence south 39 degrees 26 minutes 30 seconds east along said right-of-way line 243.39 feet to a point opposite the P T at centerline station 23 plus 56.61 of said proposed highway, thence southeasterly from a tangent bearing of south 39 degrees 26 minutes 30 seconds east around a curve to the right with a radius of 1,091.9 feet along said right-of-way line an arc distance of 345.5 feet more or less to the south line of aforesaid southeast quarter of the northwest quarter of section 29, thence north 89 degrees 14 minutes west along said south line 512.1 feet more or less to the point of beginning containing 3.5 acres more or less.

For the relief of Cornelia V. Lane.

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the Cornelia V. Lane. United States of America in Congress assembled, That the Secretary of the Treasury be, and he is hereby, authorized and directed to pay out of any money in the Treasury not otherwise appropriated, the sum of $1,500 to Cornelia V. Lane, of North Hollywood, California, in full settlement of all claims against the United States for compensation for injuries and permanent disability which she sustained while living with her husband in Japan, as a result of being burned after an operation performed on her in the United States Naval Hospital, Yokosuka, Japan, on July 8, 1954. This claim is not cognizable under the Federal Tort Claims Act, since it arose in a foreign country: Provided, That no part of the amount appropriated in this Act in excess of 10 per centum thereof shall be paid or delivered to or received by any agent or attorney on account of services rendered in connection with this claim, and the same shall be unlawful, any contract to the contrary notwithstanding. Any person violating the provisions of this Act shall be deemed guilty of a misdemeanor and upon conviction thereof shall be fined in any sum not exceeding $1,000. Approved June 4, 1958.

For the relief of Sidney A. Coven

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the Sidney A. Coven. United States of America in Congress assembled, That the Secretary of the Treasury is authorized and directed to pay, out of any money in the Treasury not otherwise appropriated, to Sidney A. Coven, Boston, Massachusetts, the sum of $221.20. The payment of such sum shall be in full settlement of all claims of Sidney A. Coven against the United States for payment of accrued annual leave equitably due him at the time of his resignation from employment with the National Labor Relations Board on April 19, 1957, which he failed to receive because of an alleged administrative error: Provided, That no part of the amount appropriated in this Act shall be paid or delivered to or received by any agent or attorney on account of services rendered in connection with this claim, and the same shall be unlawful, any contract to the contrary notwithstanding.
