Enclosed is a copy of the Financial Disclosure Report (SF-278) signed and filed by Eljay B. Bowron on April 3, 1998. Mr. Bowron was recently nominated by the President to serve as Inspector General for the U.S. Department of the Interior.

Mr. Bowron is a Federal employee with the General Accounting Office. He is presently serving in the position of Assistant Comptroller General.

We have interviewed Mr. Bowron and reviewed his SF-278 financial disclosure report. Based on the information provided by Mr. Bowron, I have determined that his report does not disclose any real or apparent conflict of interest between his financial interests and the duties and responsibilities that he will perform as Inspector General for this Department. If you have any questions concerning this matter, please contact Gabriele J. Paone or Mason Tsai c1 (202) 208-5916.
