THE WORLD-WIDE WANT.

WORLD-WIDE WANT.

"And he began to be in want."-Luke xv. 14.

It is the startling evidence of the greatness of the fall of man, that the
soul seeks satisfaction apart from God. It is a startling and magnificent proof
of the greatness of that soul that it fails to possess what it seeks, because its
great want is God.

"Although its heart is rich in pearls and ores,
The sea complains upon a thousand shores.
Sea-like we moan for ever! We are weak-
We ever hunger for diviner stores!"
