This book is a classic and a standard of Cape Malay cooking. I've had it since it was first published and in 25 years have not found better. The roti recipe is fantastic. I was impressed with how perfectly they came out the very first time, but the instructions are so clear you can't go wrong. The mince curry is still one of my all-time favourites... I can go on and on. Every single recipe has the flavours balanced just right, simple as they are. If you love Cape Malay cooking or any flavourful, often spicy dishes, you will love this book. Although I love cooking, even beginners will find success with this book.
